The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football franchise based in Tampa, Florida, U.S. They are currently members of the Southern Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League. The team, along with the Seattle Seahawks, joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. They played their first season in the AFC West as part of the 1976 expansion plan. After the season, they switched conferences with the Seattle Seahawks and became part of the NFC. The 2005 Tampa Bay Buccaneers season began with the team trying to improve on their 5-11 record in 2004. Carnell Williams won rookie of the year. The Bucs made a complete turnaround from last season to make the playoffs. The Bucs would lose in the Wild-Card playoff game at home to the Washington Redskins.
