The 1st Century Aramaic Bible in Plain English -- Proverbs
This is a translation of The Aramaic Peshitta Old Testament Book of Proverbs (Aramaic was the language of Jesus & had been that of Israel since the 7th century BC.) The Peshitta O.T., unlike the Peshitta N.T., is an ancient Aramaic translation of the original Hebrew Bible. Aramaic was used in Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ" to make the film as realistic & accurate as possible. This Proverbs translation will surprise & thrill the reader with its power & inspiration coming from the Holy Spirit inspired words of King Solomon translated into Aramaic, the sister language of Hebrew. What is especially interesting & valuable about the Peshitta O.T. is that it is the oldest Semitic version of the complete O.T. extant. The author believes that it is a 1st century work, based on its readings & also on many of the headings of the Psalms in ancient Aramaic mss., several of which appear to date the original text in the 1st century A.D.
