Offseason: November 29, 1971: Lee May, Tommy Helms, and Jimmy Stewart were traded by the Reds to the Houston Astros for Joe Morgan, Ed Armbrister, Jack Billingham, C sar Ger nimo, and Denis Menke. December 14, 1971: Jim Qualls was traded by the Reds to the Chicago White Sox for Pat Jacquez.
