The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League as an expansion team in 1960. They compete in the North Division of the National Football Conference, previously the Western Conference Central Division and the NFC Central Division. The Vikings have played their home games at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis since 1982. Prior to 1982, the team had called Metropolitan Stadium in suburban Bloomington home since their inaugural season of 1961. The 1964 Minnesota Vikings season was the fourth year of season play for the Minnesota Vikings and the 45th regular season of the National Football League. The Vikings finished with a record of eight wins, five losses, and one tie under head coach Norm Van Brocklin. The eight wins was the most at the time in the franchise's four year history.
