2012 book trends
Books that you bought & shared from The Book
Depository
We do love to follow sales and spot trends; we thought we'd create some fun infographics to share the books that have been very popular in 2012. Follows us as we investigate everything from Lego to novelty crafts and global cuisine to 50 shades.

Global cuisine & baking
There were some spectacular global cuisine releases this year, but who sits on top of the food pyramid?
We couldn't help but notice the lovely baking smells from around the world -- we were curious to see which country baked the most and it turns out we need to organise a trip to Malaysia as soon as possible.
Moleskine special editions Back to top
We do have a soft spot for Moleskine stationery, especially when it comes to limited editions. From intergalactic and retro to classic and humorous, Moleskine offered some of the most beloved parts of popular culture. But which special edition was the most special?
We were surprised to see one of our personal favourites, Audiocassette, receive less love than we expected, but the throne of stationery held no surprises with LEGO.

Anatomy of Lego® Ninjago Back to top
Who doesn't love LEGO? This year Ninjago took us by storm. If we spent a respectable amount of time examining & constructing, we can only imagine how the series fared with the little ones. (And other adults. You know who you are.) Enjoy a tantalising anatomy of Ninjago characters and remember: whatever you do, never ever step on a piece barefoot.

Book-to-movie Back to top
Many a debate have turned fiery over which was better: the book or the movie? We are not mad enough to get into that (THE BOOK, ALWAYS THE BOOK... ooops.) but we thought it'd be interesting to look at book sales VS movie sales so far. Of course, we don't have numbers for The Hobbit, so we just let our fantasy run wild for the forecast. Kind of like Tolkien. Not that we are saying we are Tolkien.
50 shades & parodies Back to top
Trends 2012 would not be complete without an oh la la infographic about 50 shades and all the parodies it inspired. This guilty pleasure spread around the planet, so we couldn't help but investigate which country was the greyest of them all & which parody fared the best.
Cats VS dogs Back to top
Cats and dogs go head to head (in a cute way) and the eternal battle is settled once and for all. Until next year.

Novelty crafts Back to top
Crafts are not as innocent as you may think. From twisted stiches and evil knits to knits for nerds and felt fruit, there's plenty to inspire and help you stich & knit outside the box.
