Short Description for The Forgotten GardenShifting back and forth over a span of nearly 100 years, this is a sprawling, old-fashioned novel, as well-cushioned as a Victorian country house, replete with family secrets, stories-within-stories, even a maze and a Dickensian rag-and-bone shop.--"Booklist."

Lisa Russell This book is magical and will whisk you away to forgotten gardens (just like the title suggests), grand manors, London slums, the picturesque town of Cornwall and barmy Brisbane in Australia.

Following the lives of three different women, each born in a different era and different place you unravel the mystery that links them all. Grown up fairy tales that are full of clues, add to the mystery.

This book was amazing. The rich descriptions made you feel like you were really there, so much so my heart was breaking when reading about the slums. The time spent on each character and location was perfect. The fairy tales were an unusual but clever addition.

I wasn't sure I would like this book as my first impression it would be unrealistic because of the fairy tales but the way the author included them was perfect to the story. I even began to wish such tales existed.
The story is well constructed with everything cleverly linking just like an intricate puzzle.

This is a great easy read that will take you away to magical places and will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend it. by Lisa Russell
