Reviews for Below Mile Zero
"Thrills, suspense and smuggling, oh my!"
"This is, without a doubt, the most exhilarating and insightful novel of suspense and intrigue I have read.
It's like a combination of Nelson DeMille, John Steinbeck , John Grisham and Ernest Hemingway.
When I started I found the book charming, heartbreakingly funny and so introspective, that I quickly became completely immersed.
That was just the setup for a thrilling ride that rattled my cage to the point where I didn't want to go to sleep, craving the next turn of the screw, but had to force myself to put the book down, so I could make the story last and savor each delectable, poignant, nerve-shredding moment.
I've never before been so deeply inside the skin of a protagonist as in Below Mile Zero, and I never did discover his name.
I'm going to give myself a couple of weeks then jump into it again...the only time I've read the same book more than once was Pat Conroy's Prince of Tides." by a Book Depository customerBrilliant!
"I have been looking for a book as engaging, thrilling, well-written, and humorous as this for more years than I can count. Finally, it's been written. Thankfully, it's been written.
Well done! Mr. babineau, well done, indeed.
Mind you, after reading this story, I may neveer stray off the well-lit streets in Key West, if ever I find myself there. Though, I certainly got the flavour of this marvelously exotic little place in Below Mile Zero.
Usually, when I find a truly decent read, my only regret is that I am cursed with a particularly strong memory, so the volume is consigned to a dark corner for an inordinate amount of time before it can be read and savoured almost anew. This one, however, I've cover-to-covered twice, so enamored am I of the exceptional style and use of the English language by Mr. Babineau.
I'm avidly waiting for the next story, with which Mr. Babineau will grace the reading public.
Thank you." by a Book Depository customer- Top review
