  • New Master of Epic Fantasy5

T.Eveleigh In 'The Final Empire', Sanderson has undoubtedly written one of the best opening books to a debut fantasy trilogy that you're ever likely to read. The action packed, rip-roaring plot is fantastically crafted into a story of intrigue, betrayal, suffering, love and Mistborn. Through the protagonists of Vin and Kelsier, Sanderson delves into the wonderfully original magic system of Allomancy, the power to manipulate metals in order to enhance aspects of ones physical being.
The characterisation of not only the protagonists, but the ensemble cast aswell, is superb and really plays on the reader's emotions. Sanderson's world building is vivid and imaginative, and quickly establishes a sense of history. In relation, the city of Luthadel is so finely detailed that it becomes a character of its own, one that immerses the reader's imagination.
In a genre of ever increasing popularity and quality, due to the likes of Rothfuss, Lynch and Tchaikovsky, it is a testament to his writing that Sanderson is able to shine out like in beacon in the night by T.Eveleigh

Selina Quach For a book that i bought on mere whim, i must say this is a great choice!I simply couldn't put the book down and after finishing it, i wanted to zoom out there and grab the second book (which I couldn't).

After reading it, i can only ever say that it is superb, epic, fantastic and masterful. Sanderson is a master storyteller. The story itself comes alive under his hand, riveting and addictive.

So readers, I have two things to say:
Firstly, if you are an avid reader of fantasy or are in fact open to a range of genres, i highly recommend that this book be read. There is simply no excuses.
Secondly, if you have a little collection of novels at home, this one is a must have. by Selina Quach
