Absolutely Magical!
Three words I would use to describe this book: Hilarious. Heartwarming. BRILLIANT.
I was looking for another 'H' word to summarize it, but brilliant seemed to fit better than anything else - because that's exactly what Stephenie Perkins proved she was by writing this book! Everything about it was just so magical.
I've always wanted to go to Paris, and reading this book fueled my desire even more. Perkins has an amazing talent of writing details so that you're always intrigued and never bored. The storyline was perfectly crafted, and the way she wrote such specific aspects about her characters made them that much easier to connect to.
Anna was the perfect voice for the novel! Her thoughts were always fun and hilarious to follow; I could always relate to her no matter what she did. And her chemistry with St. Clair stole my breath away every time. They were perfect together. But Perkins didn't just write "they were perfect together" - the author showed it through moments that were just as much fun to read as I'm sure they were for Anna to experience.
Beautiful, enchanting, and one-hundred percent entertaining, I have to say that Anna and the French Kiss was honestly my favourite contemporary novel of the year! I recommend it wholeheartedly! Stephenie Perkins is definitely an author I'm going to watch out for. :)

Review: Anna & The French Kiss
I dont even know how to start, or what to say. One thing for sure is that, this book is PERFECT. I LOVED IT! I LOOOOVED IT! AND I LOOOOOVVEEEEE IT!!!! *sqeaal*
I have read MANY reviews for this book, and many people told me that they loved it, but i just never got the nerves to start it. I was scared that once i start reading it, it might be a disappointment, you know? When people keep telling you something is amazing amazing amazing. You have high expectations for it, so i was scared it wont live up to my expectation. BUT DAMN IT DID! It blew me away. I was never disappointed, and now i understand why EVERYBODY is squealing about this lovely book.
Lets talk about the characters now. Anna is the protagonist, and i loved her. She felt like she was a real person to me. When i would read, i can feel her emotions, and everything she does feels just so real and believable. I can actually relate to everything she does. I can actually understand her.
St.Clair/Etienne, oh Gosh lovely lovely St.Clair. *sigh* He's so perfect.... *sigh* .. i love his hair *sigh* okay okay enough of me drooling over him, but he is truly a perfect character. I loved him. I loved his hair, his smile, his accent, oh GOD his accent ! Who wouldnt love his accent? Now St.Clair was described so good that i can imagine EVERYTHING about him, and now, i feel like he's a memory of a guy i met ;) haha oh how i wish i actually met him.
His relationship with Anna felt so real. It was not perfect, but thats just how life is eh? It NOT perfect, and thats what makes it so real, special, and believable. It was lovely, and i loved every bit of this book. Really, a HUGE thumbs up to our dear Stephanie.
Happy Reading

Magnifique book!
I bought Anna and the French kiss at least 3 months ago and I have one big BIG question here: Why did I read it before?! What was I thinking?! I mean, seriously, with all the good things I heard about this book how could I let 3 - not one but three!- months pass?!
Sigh... sorry xD It's just that this book was so so so funny! And touching, and hilarious, and cute, and sweet and... and... yeah, well, I know most of you know that already.
But you know what? I enjoyed this book a lot because I actually had to pass for something similar when I was younger. Why you ask? Well, when I was 18 I had to move to Brasil and although in the end I fell in love with the whole country and culture at the beginning I was devastated because, lets face it, most of my friends and my big crush were in Almeria (Spain). And in Anna's case she was forced to move to Paris and leave her best friend and possible future boyfriend in Atlanta. Which completely sucked big time.
But come on, we all knew that she was going to love Paris, who couldn't?! And for various reasons in fact, first of all, she writes reviews about movies and Paris is the perfect city to go and watch a movie every night without getting tired! Then it has the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées... do I have to say more?!
Anyway, Anna, being new and not knowing a word of French feels quite lost and abandon in this new city. No friends, no family, no language and new school. But things get way better when she meets Étienne St.Clair, a gorgeous, caring, sweet, funny and handsome boy that is the dream of every young girl. The reasons? Let me quote Anna for this:
"French name, English accent, American school. Anna confused".
Yes, he has the best qualities ever! He is sweet like the French people, his voice is sexy and beautiful and he is also from USA which means he understands her culture.
The only bad thing? He has a girlfriend. But we know the attraction is there, we can feel it even more than Anna can and it's obvious they want to be together and Stephanie does an amazing job building the tension in the right moments. I assure you that when nothing happens between them we are as disappointed as Anna is.
If, by any reason, you haven't read Anna and the French kiss yet go out and buy it now. It has everything a YA romance should have, is going to make you smile, is going to make you laugh so hard that you are going to need a few deep breaths to calm yourself and you will fall in love with Paris, Étienne and the way Stephanie writes.
Stephanie, you are an amazing addition to my favorite authors! You are not only unique but funny and great :D by Alaiel Kreuz -

Oh. My. God. Seriously? I. Freaking. Loved. This. Book. Why did it have to end?! Why?! It was amazing. I have heard soooo many great things about this book. I kept hearing that it was one of their most favorite contemporary novels for the year, and for some the greatest ever!
It definitely got me intrigued and when I was able to snag it at the library without putting a hold on it, I was ecstatic! I wasn't even looking for it at the time, I mean, I knew I wanted to read it, but I was just browsing the shelves and I saw the Eiffel tower on the spine and then the name and I freaked and grabbed it.
I don't even know how to explain this book. I started reading it and that was it. I was hooked. From the first freaking page! And I didn't stop then, nope. I read until, like, 4 in the morning! I only got in about 200 pages before falling asleep, but I finished the next day. And wow, I even dreamed about Paris and, of course, St. Clair (Drools!) when I was sleeping. And that's after about half an hour of tossing and turning while thinking about the book. I couldn't get it out of my head. And I still can't. I am so unbelievably sad I finished it. I keep staring at the pretty cover and making a sad face. Normally books this size (Nearly 400.) takes me a few days to read nowadays because I have my son, but I read this book pretty dang fast! If I could add up all my time spent reading it, it might have been about 5 hours all together? And that's because half the time I would read very slow in some areas, or go back and read it over again to smile at it. I will definitely be rereading this in the future and I can NOT wait to read the companion novel Lola and the Boy Next Door. I don't even know what it's about yet because I told myself I would read Anna and the French Kiss before reading the synopsis for the companion.
Anna was a great protagonist, she annoyed me at some points, but all the characters were great. Especially St. Clair! God he's hot. And soooo nice! Even the annoying preppy girls like Amanda was fun to read about. All the characters were pretty real to me, they made mistakes and learned from them, and they were flawed.
The writing pulls you in and has great detail. And I mean GREAT detail. Perkins did an amazing job describing the streets of Paris. I've always wanted to go there, but after reading this I want to go NOW.
But overall, just get it. It was amazing. Really. I kind of want to go back and re-read it now just to be back with the characters and setting. by Amanda -
Amazing read
I really don't have anything bad to say about this book....seriously.
I loved this read. It made my heart melt at times and it had a great pace to it. I loved the settings, the characters, the story...everything.
Anna starts off at a new school in a different country at the start of the story. She's completely thrown into the deep end as it were and has to find new friends and learn a new language. It seems like the new environment allows Anna to reflect and to develop as her own person.
I'm really fussy about how relationships develop in books. I hate it when you immediately know that two people are going to get together and everything's going to be fine between them. This didn't happen in this book. I didn't know what was going to happen. I loved it.
That's all I really have to say. It's definitely a recommended read to everyone. The rating says it all really. by Maryam H -
Shattered Memories Reviews: http://shatteredmemoriesreviews.com/
After hearing so many rave reviews about Anna and the French Kiss, I knew I had to read it. Though, with all the hype about this book I thought it was too good to be true. I mean how good could it possibly be? You want to know how good? Absolutely beyond amazing. I was very happy to find out that every single one of those reviews were 100 percent true!
Anna and the French Kiss is a story about friendship, love, heartbreak and making mistakes that'll leave you wanting more. I found myself completely enthralled with every word. The humorous dialogue was something I just couldn't get enough of. It had me giggling and wanting to cry right along with its characters. Perkins authentic ability to tell the story from a teenager's perspective was phenomenal. I really felt that I connected with Anna. She's funny, witty, eccentric and has her own quirks and awkward moments, but honestly, who doesn't? I think that made her all the more believable than some façade of perfection. She's a great, strong character that anyone can easily relate to.
Étienne St. Clair... *swooooooon* I need to point out the fact that he is American, British AND Parisian (Don't get it? Go read the book ASAP to find out! ;)) and has beautiful hair. Who could resist that?! It's totally a swoon-worthy combination. He's endearing, sometimes vulnerable, sweet and compassionate and everything you could want in a cute boy. I loved all his Briticisms throughout the book!
One of my most favorite things about this novel is how effortlessly Anna and him became best friends above everything else. They have such a solid relationship and great chemistry. The romance between the two was gradually built up instead of a kind of "love at first sight" thing, which gave it a sense of realism. They took the time to really know each other first. I could literally feel the tension every time they brushed legs whilst sitting next to each other or glanced at each other out of the corner of their eyes. You always know you've found an author with a true talent for writing when you get butterflies while reading as if all these interactions are happening to you.
The setting is just to die for. I've never been to Paris or really had much of an interest in it - trust me, I do now - but Perkins is so stunningly detailed in her descriptions of the city that you feel like you are experiencing it right there alongside Anna. I truly enjoyed imagining the museums, theatres and restaurants - I think I need to go there just to taste the yummy sounding food! I most certainly wouldn't mind being shipped off to boarding school in Paris, especially if I met someone like Étienne!
I'm glad Anna and the French Kiss lived up to my expectations and that it was so huge in the blog world or I probably would have gone forever without this fantastic book in my life. It's charming, romantic, funny and just left me with a good feeling after reading it. Ms. Perkins' writing style is unique and invigorating. I'm eager to see what epicness she has written about in the companion novel, Lola and the Boy Next Door, which comes out later this year. by Kayla (Shattered Memories Reviews) -
Oh My Books! Review
Anna and the French Kiss is one of those books you keep reading amazing reviews. It was on my TBR pile but I couldn't find the time to read it until a few days ago, when I was looking for a romantic story with a HEA ending.
I really liked Anna. She was fun and light but also smart. I could easely relate to her, even when I haven't had the same experiences as her. If my parents sent me on my senior year to another country (even if it's Paris) I wouldn't be so happy. But even with that going on, she was always in a good mood and trying to have the best experience. She was a real girl, with doubts and scared, but also ready to take a chance.
At first I wasn't completely sure about St. Clair. He seemed insecure and giving hope to Anna while he was with his girlfriend was mean. But then I thought Who isn't insecure at that age? Specially about love. He was also smart and good looking, and Anna liked him since the beggining. But I was glad it wasn't another one of those instant-love relationships, and I think that's why I liked so much this book. Nobody is perfect.
Excellent characters, awesome writing, Anna and the French Kiss didn't let me sleep until I finished it. I loved, LOVED, that Anna and St. Clair were friends before being a couple. Usually it doesn't happen this way in young adult books, but I think it's more real.
Overall, I loved this book and I can't wait to read other books from this author, as Lola and the Boy Next Door. by Maria Guajardo (GABY) -

ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS is, without a doubt, one of my favorite books ever! Stephanie Perkins is a fabulous author and she created a romantic, fun, and addicting debut. Considering I visited Paris over the summer, this book was even more relevant because I recognized so many of the places Anna and her friends visited. Paris is a beautiful city and the perfect setting for any novel. It made me want to return as soon as possible, or even start attending a boarding school there!
Anna Oliphant was an awesome main character. She was so realistic and believable, and best of all, she wasn't perfect. Anna was an ordinary teenager, and reading about her experiences was so much fun. She never failed to add humor to the story and I really wanted to know her in real life. Anna is one of those characters you can't help but like and want the best for and I was constantly rooting for her throughout the novel.
Her family wasn't perfect, either, but I enjoyed reading about them. Her father especially. I always find it interesting when a character in a book is an author, and Mr. Oliphant was no exception. He reminded me of Nicholas Sparks in a way, or at least his books and movies did. Sean was a sweet younger brother and he really did love Anna. She had a lot of ups and downs with her friends in America, but I'm satisfied with how everything turned out.
The characters that played the largest role in ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS were Anna's friends at the School of America in Paris. It was such an original idea to have Anna go to boarding school in Paris, and it made the story that much more magical and intriguing then if it was just in the US. All of the people Anna met in Paris made an impact on both Anna and the reader and I loved them all. Especially her best friends; Meredith, Rashmi, Josh, and St. Clair. They were a great group and each of them played a large role in the story, most importantly Etienne St. Clair.
St. Clair deserves his own paragraph in this review- he is just that awesome. I loved his character and every page he was on. St. Clair was not your standard typical, gorgeous, popular guy, but rather a sweet and realistic character who adds so much to the story. I especially liked watching Anna and St. Clair's friendship grow and develop into something more.
The setting and plot was also great. The idea of attending boarding school in Paris was so original and reading about all the places they visited and people they met was one of my favorite aspects of the novel. Another part of the story I liked was reading about Anna's love for movies, most especially old classics.
Stephanie Perkins wrote a magical and romantic first novel that will steal the hearts of readers everywhere and leave them dying to visit Paris. Anna and St. Clair were awesome main characters and the writing was fabulous. I can't wait to read Ms. Perkins' next release!

Anna and the French Kiss is a book like any other that will melt your heart and require your constant attention until you are finished. It's a book that latches on to your life, and you carry with you every where to sneak in a few more pages of reading time. I loved every single page of it. It's smart, funny, set IN PARIS, and very down to earth. Every page makes you love the story more and more.
I loved the characters. Every single one of them. They were all flawed and made mistakes. Better yet, they even made note of these and learned from them! Now on to the characters themselves... I'll start with Etienne St. Clair. He was just lovely and he stole my heart. He is an American who lives in France AND has an AWESOME English accent. What's not to love? He's also fairly short, which is something brought up many many a' time. Anna Oliphant has one of the best names ever. She was funny and I liked how no matter what was thrown at her, she still kept her self respect.
Stephanie Perkins has a serious way with words. Not a single word in Anna and the French Kiss is wasted. Anna and the French Kiss is very real. While romance is a big idea, the story is so down to earth and all the characters have many different issues. I hate when characters have perfect lives, and that is not the case in Anna and the French Kiss. With all the characters having trying matters in their lives, it made it really easy to connect with each and every one of them. There was also a lot of variety in emotion in Anna and the French Kiss. Parts of the book had me laughing so hard I was almost crying and others were very touching and emotional and sad.
Another awesome thing about Anna and the French Kiss was how the story didn't just talk about the main character's relationship. You had the romance problems of other characters, whether it be relationship issues or something else. I liked that it wasn't just centered around the main characters. by Erica
