Short Description for RoomJack is five and, like any little boy, excited at the prospect of presents and cake. But although Jack is a normal child in many ways - loving, funny, and bright - his upbringing is far from ordinary: Jack's entire life has been spent in a single room that measures just 12 feet by 12 feet; as far as he's concerned, Room is the entire world.

Room is the "must read" for 20105

Margo Sugarman On the cover of the book, Audrey Niffenegger writes that Room is a book to read in one sitting. She is so right. The story seeps deeply into your soul, as little Jack, who was born in a locked room tells the story of he and his remarkable mother. I started reading this book in the evening, went to sleep without finishing it, and couldn't sleep for thinking of this affecting and haunting tale. Written in the voice of a five-year old, "Room" is a truly astounding read and shouldn't be missed. by Margo Sugarman

Niamh Doyle This is an amazing book about a young boy who has spent his entire life being held captive with his mother in a small room. He has no idea that the outside world that he sees on TV is in fact real until his mother makes a momentous decision. It's an extraordinary story, that brings to mind some high profile cases such as Josef Fritzl and Jaycee Dugard. It's moving and gripping and it really affected me after reading it. Make sure that you have plenty of time to devote to reading it because you won't want to put it down. by Niamh Doyle
