Reviews for Soulless

  • Much Ado About Something3

Peter Aldin I was surprised how much I liked this story. It was wry and innovative. The concepts behind it and the sense of humour throughout were truly lovely.

The only thing that spoiled it a little was the author's tendency toward very long sentences, and the highbrow "voice" the author uses. There's nothing wrong with either; I simply didn't cope with them very well. I needed long breaks from the novel before returning to it. But that's me; others I know enjoyed it far more than I did.

A clever author with a clever idea. Worth a look. by Peter Aldin

  • Soulless but wonderful5

Katherine Kearsley I was given Soulless by a friend to read. I said to her I wanted something that wasn't too taxing on the brain, that would hold my interest and cheer me up. Soulless did all of this and more. Gail Carriger is a fantastically witty writer, who had me giggling through most of the book. I adored that characters and loved all the prim and propper of Victorian London with a definite twist. I immediately went to my friend for book 2 and then eagerly awaited the releases of 3 and 4 and am now on the list for book 5 too! Would highly recommend this series to anyone - And although it does have vampires and warewolves, it is as fair away from Twilight as you can possibly get (much to my relief!) Sorry to the lady I clicked dislike to her comment too. Was trying to see who would dislike this book and then added another!! Oooops! It's a definite LIKE from me!! by Katherine Kearsley

  • Parasol protected treacle goodness5

Tempeste I fell in love with Alexia on the first few pages and never stopped. Gail Carriger is uniquelly funny, builds the plot so easily and manages to ensnare the reader. Even though all lines are untangled in the end, you are left with longing for more. More witty quips, more ugly hats and unfashionable parasols, more tea and treacle tart and all the most, more whipped werevolves and harassed vampires under the tight reign of one incredible bluestocking :) by Tempeste

Angel T. It has been utterly too long a time since I've giggled my way through an entire novel - in the good way. This novel is filled with intricate world-building, smoothly blending paranormal oddities within a steampunk setting. The most winning part of all however, has definitely got to be the incredibly quirky, yet sympathizing and adore-able characters, major and minor. There is no cliffhanger ending, but this is the kind of book where you'll be pining for the sequel just to meet the characters again. Alena Vesela This book is a real page-turner. I ordered the next volumes immediately after I red the first one.
I loved the way Carriger described her paranormal steampunk London. I also enjoyed the funny aspects of the Victorian age. I can recommend the book to everyone who is interested in the detective plots, romance and sexy werewolves (plus one ridiculous and adorable vampire.) by Alena Vesela
