Amanda Also reviewed on my blog, The Vintage Bookworm. (http://www.vintagebookworm.blogspot.com)

I know I've said this a lot this year, but why the hell did I wait so long to read this one?! I know it only came out last year, but I've been meaning to read this one since before it came out, but never got around to it! When I snagged it at the library I was ecstatic, but had to wait until I read a few other books from the library. But gosh, this book was amazing!

I liked Evie from the start, she was hilarious and I was only a few pages in at the time. I knew I would be hooked from the start, and I wasn't disappointed. It lured me in and didn't push me out of the book until the end. I really need to get a hold of the sequel soon before I go absolutely nuts. I'm addicted! Oh, and if you are wondering, I am Team Lend. I love Lend! He was a great character and so sweet and friendly! He also has a super cool ability to turn into anyone he sees. But when he is himself, he is clear like water. Who wouldn't want to have that sort of ability?

Also, Evie has a special ability too! She can see through all supernatural beings 'glamours' to see their real form underneath. Say it was a vampire she was looking at. They could have an awesome young shell on the outside, but underneath their glamour they would look about how old they really are. With near bald heads and wrinkled old faces. It's awesome! I love Kiersten's take on all the supernatural beings in this series. And there are a lot! Vampires, werewolves, mermaids, fairies, hags! And sooo many more! It's just such a fresh take! Very unique tone to the story and the writing is great!

Overall, there isn't much I can say about this book other than it was great. Kiersten White, you have definitely made it to my author watch list. Thank you so much for writing such an awesome book.

The cover is gorgeous! Love Evie's dress! The model on the front fits Evie perfectly. by Amanda

  • 3 - 3.5 STARS3

SpadesHigh This book has a clever idea of how paranormal trapping/tagging works. I also loved that it consisted of more than just vampires and werewolves. The aspect of faeries being able to be some-what controlled for their 'magic' is a fresh take on their lore, and what is unknown of their world. The story itself is wonderfully envisioned. I would have given it 4 stars but majority of the time the story dragged on on a monotonous way. If your expecting a lot of love interest, this will be in the lack of. Although humor makes up for that.
I still would recommend this book, and I will be reading it's sequel (Supernaturally). by SpadesHigh

  • SO BLEEPING GOOD!4

haley "Lish tried to swear--which is always funny, because the computer won't translate it. It went something like this: "Bleep stupid bleep bleep faeries and their bleep bleep bleep obsessions. He had better stop bleep bleep bleep the bleep bleep rules or I will bleep bleep bleep the little bleeeeeeeeeeep."

OMG! This book was Amazing. It is so much different then most paranormal book, and such a unique delight. Evie works at a paranormal agency, when she was 8 the agency found her, and discovered, she can see threw paranormals glamor, see them for what they truly are. Evie always thought she was just a normal girl with a special ability, but after weird occurrences happen she not even sure who or what she is.Not is it bad enough her trying to figure out what she is, but who to trust. Does she trust her ex boyfriend Reth? who has tricked her multipule times, but swears he is just trying to protect her and save her life...or Lend...the new agency's study that will only talk to Evie (who also is the only thing Evie can seem to think about). This book has it all; werewolves, mermaids, vampires, hags, shapeshifters, and some other new amazing paranormal creatures, this book is not just an amazing cover but everything in the inside is just as amazing, actually even better. by haley

  • Love this book!!!!!5

Claudia Omg! When my friend told me about this book, I was a little etchy about read this. But I read this and absolutely loved it!
It is an amazing book about Evie who thinks of herself as 'normal' but really her nest friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she's falling for a shape-shifter and she is the only one who can see through paranormal's glamours but still. Normal.

It takes you on an adventure with Evie as she gets into trouble, goes out for bag and tag and watches Easton Heights (her favourite tv show) with her best friend. by Claudia

TeensReadToo Evie was found abandoned as a toddler. After many foster homes and centers, the International Paranormal Containment Agency brought her to their home. And while her best friend was a mermaid, and her ex-boyfriend was a faerie, she always thought of herself as normal. But she could see through the paranormals' glamours to what they really were. And this was her job when she was sent out around the world to tag paranormals.

But now, suddenly, paranormals are dying and no one knows why. She meets a shapeshifter who she falls for and who helps her see what she really is and what her abilities are. And she soon realizes that her abilities might have a link to the deaths of the paranormals. Evie tries to find out how to stop these deaths and in the process discovers secrets that she never imagined.

PARANORMALCY was awesome! The first chapter title had me hooked (I read an ARC, so the chapter could always change, but I hope not). It was titled "Oh, Bite Me." Perfect!

I love characters who are sarcastic. And I love kick-butt girl characters who are also girly (If I ever need a weapon for something, I definitely want my own pink taser with rhinestones). And Evie is both. I just love, love, loved her! In fact, I kind of want to be her! She is just a strong character who also seems so real. I think she is one of my most favorite characters ever.

And Lend is awesome, too. What a paranormal power to have - to be able to change the way you look (Although if you can't really show your real self, I guess it could get old). And he was such a nice guy and so loving and supporting of Evie. I loved their relationship. It seemed to progress just right and nothing was too fast.

I even really liked the secondary characters. Lish, Evie's mermaid best friend, was so sweet (And the whole bleeping out curse words was bleeping great!). I even liked Vivian, who everyone was scared of. I felt sorry for her and wanted her to not feel alone and to have a family.

The plot had me guessing, too. I was never sure who the good guys were and who the bad guys were. Even up until the very end, I was going back and forth. And the cover is stunning - so beautiful (Can I look like her?).

I absolutely CANNOT wait for the sequel, SUPERNATURALLY, to be released next September! This is my favorite book of the year so far!

  • Not your typical paranormal book- Love it!5

jennifer elliott Now at the age of sixteen years old, this is the only world she knows. She has never gone to high school, been on a date let alone prom, or even have her drivers license. She wants nothing more to be an average every day teenager but her superior Raquel thinks it would not be best for Evie.
Stuck doing everyday bag and tags of vampires, weres, and hags, can become boring after a while. The everyday teen life sounds so exciting. Just to be able to attend a school and have her own locker is the next best thing to sliced bread.

    This soon all changed.

Being awoken by a panic alarm, she heads to Raquel's office to find someone or something that looks like Raquel but she can see past it and see it is not her. So she gets "Tasey" and knocks out this new encounter. A boy. A boy that can shape shift into looking like anyone. No one has seen anything like this. Not only does curiosity draw Evie into this boy, but he looks to be about her age as well. Lend, the shapeshifter becomes her interest and crush.

While the IPCA is trying to figure out what Lend is, a lot of strange killing have been going on in the world. Who ever is doing these mass killing does not mind who or what they are, vamps, weres, fae, or even hags. It only stays away from humans. Evie has a lot on her hands at this point, and with a new interest in her life....its not so boring anymore.

Please pick up Paranormalcy by Kiersten White and be drawn into a new world and love interest. I know I did and really looking forward to the second book in this new series!!! This was such a nice change in the paranormal world. To have the main character fall for someone who isn't a vampire or a werewolf for a change was so refreshing. Kiersten's book will draw you in to a new world that you would not want it to end. Guarantee you will fall in love with Lend just like I did! by jennifer elliott

    I bleeping loved this book5

Rachel I bleeping loved this book. I had high expectations and White delivered. If you are in the mood for a feel-good, action-packed book that balances light and fluffy with dark and stormy perfectly, this is the book for you. White does a balancing act between YA chick lit and deep paranormal romance well, lightening it up when you need it and sinking you deep into the rough and tumble right as you are getting tired of the cotton candy. YA fans - the publishers keep on delivering us some great debut authors, Kiersten White is now on that list and I say, "Keep It Coming."

REVIEW: Evie's pretty normal, yep, a normal sixteen year old. She likes pink, her weekly dose of television teen drama and shopping. It doesn't really matter that she works and lives within the confines of the International Paranormal Containment Agency, or that she is the only one on the planet that can see through a paranormals' glamour, she's still normal, an average human teenager, who just likes to name her weapons and paint them pink. Nothing strange about that.

On a routine bag and tag of a vampire Evie comes back to head quarters to find that her boss and stand-in mother wannabe, Raquel is not exactly Raquel anymore. She's someone wearing Raquel's face. A quick zap with her taser and situation handled...or is it? As more is revealed about the skin-changing stranger, Evie begins to realize that there is more to him than meets the eye, and she just might be at the center of all the controversy that is ranging throughout the paranormal world.

Great world building. Excellent character development. Touching romance. Heart-warming friend bonding. Heart-string pulling death and destruction. Skin-tingling evil behavior by the antagonist. Hair-pulling inner conflict... the list goes on. In the end I devoured this book and would like to request my own personal Lend. I would only make him skinchange into Ryan Reynolds every week or so. Vin Diesel, every other week.

I really couldn't find a thing wrong about this book...except maybe I wanted it to be a bit more mature. As an adult reading these sparkly little YA books sometimes I feel I need to corrupt them a bit more. ;)

RECOMMENDATIONS: Fans of lighter YA paranormal should really enjoy. There is nothing tawdry or overly mature in the book, so younger teens are fine. Fans of Jackson Pearce, Bree Despain and Kelley Armstrong's The Summoning Series should enjoy. by Rachel
