Amanda Also reviewed on my blog, the Vintage Bookworm. (http://www.vintagebookworm.blogspot.com)

This was such a cute, fast read! I didn't want to put it down! After finishing XVI I needed a non-serious book to read, and this was perfect! I hate that I waited so long to read this, but at the same time it was the perfect time to read it.

    Definitely a summer read.

This is my first Tera Lynn Child's book, but if I'm correct I think all of her books might be on my to-read list. I will definitely be checking those out soon. The writing flowed well and I read through it pretty quickly.

I love that Lily already knew she was a mermaid. A lot of books nowadays have protagonists that have to find out who they are, which there is nothing wrong with them but this was just unique and fresh. Lily was a great protagonist, you would think she'd be stuck up and everything being royalty, but that wasn't the case with her. She had just as many problems as the regular human kids: insecurity, frizzy hair, swooning over a guy that is out of your lead, and much more.

I didn't like Brody very much, I don't see how she had a crush on him. But Quincy on the other hand? He's a keeper!

The book is a little predictable at times, but doesn't really take away from the story. And on another note, that has nothing to do with the story, I love the wave design at the beginning of each chapter.

Overall, it was a great book to read. I am looking forward to reading the second book, Fins Are Forever! Which, by the way, was released on June 28th! I'm going crazy knowing it's published and not being able to get it yet. by Amanda

TeensReadToo Lily has a secret; she's a mermaid living on land due to the fact that her mother was human. Her father is king of the seas, which makes her a Thalassinian Princess. Since finding out about her mother's lineage, Lily began to understand why she doesn't feel at home in the sea. She moved in with her aunt and started attending Seaview High School in order to find the perfect mate.

She's convinced she's found him. All she has to do is persuade him that she's the only girl for him.

She better do it fast, because mermaids mate for life at a very early age. When she comes up with a plan to share her secret and the rest of her life with him, her uber-annoying neighbor foils everything.

Now, she's forced to return home to Daddy and straighten out this huge mess, all because she kissed the wrong boy. Can she still convince her true love of her affections and hope that he returns them before her birthday?

This mermaid story is amazing with its romantic tension, clever, snarky dialogue, secrets, and an underwater world. All of this adds up to a magical tale written by one of my favorite authors.

Forgive my Fins by Tera Lynn Childs4

Shell Bryce Teenage angst, bad hair, and a bad pop quiz is nothing compared to having only weeks before your 18th birthday which wouldn't be too bad if you were a human girl with your whole life to look forward to meeting boys and going off to begin your life. But as a mermaid, not just a mermaid but the ONLY mermaid princess who was going to take over ruling your underwater country someday, Lily not only had to find the perfect boy to spend her life with.... she had to bond with him and make him accept that her life would primarily be lived under the sea. The captain of the swim team was sweet, sexy and her dream man, perfect to be her king.... too bad the boy next door had other ideas in his peeping-tom, pain-in-the-fin, annoying mind.... and when he kissed her all her plans are gone down the drain.... now she must find a way to break the bond with him so she can get on with her life.... but is that truly what she wants when she takes the time to look closely at his sea green eyes. Pick this up for an excellent underwater adventure by Shell Bryce

  • Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs Review3

Katelyn I just have to say that without a doubt that I'm a very big fan of Tera Lynn Childs' writing. I believe it's possible to be a one-hit wonder in the writing world just like it is everywhere else, but Childs is in no danger of falling into this category. After reading her Oh.My.Gods. series, I was hoping for the same fun, light reads that I had come to expect from Childs, and I was not disappointed with Forgive My Fins. I think I've found a new series that I'll be following in the future with a lot of anticipation.

We are introduced to Lily, our half human, half mermaid main character and I think a lot of readers will be joining her fan club after getting to know her. She's very easy to sympathize with and relate to. Although I can't claim to be a mermaid (even though Ariel and The Little Mermaid had me daydreaming as a little kid) I think most girls have had their share of crushes growing up. And Lily shows this in spades. As Lily pines for Brody Bennett (the swim god at her high school) I think every reader will be walking on egg shells right along with Lily as she tries to get up the courage to confess her love to the boy in question. And if that wasn't enough to stress her out, Childs decided to throw another wrench into her plans.

This wrench I was talking about happens to go by the name Quince and lives right next door to Lily. He's tall, well built, knows his way around a motorcycle (major cool points there), has blonde hair and blue eyes the color of the Caribbean. Can you tell I'm drooling over here? While Lily might find his teasing and constant meddling in her personal life irritating, I'm saying I'll take him off her hands if she doesn't want him! But I digress, because the fun didn't stop there, it was only just the beginning.

With just one kiss Lily's world is thrown upside down and in order to fix and figure things out she just might have to spend a little time with Quince and *gasp* get to know him a little better. Can you imagine the horror? Will she survive the torture? Will she finally find the courage to confess her feelings to Brody, or will she discover that just because you get what you want doesn't always mean that it's what you need or could it be that you might not have realized what you really wanted when it was staring you right in the face. Enter Childs' world and enjoy the ride! by Katelyn
