• Something for the weekend: Eunoia

9781847672391.jpg Is Oulipo back? Or did it never really go away? (Even if you don't know it, you may very well need The Oulipo Compendium!) Eunoia is the shortest word in English containing all five vowels - and it means beautiful thinking. It is also the title of Canadian poet Christian Bok's book of fiction in which each chapter uses only one vowel. But is it fiction?

This is interesting but I thought iouea was the shortest. Iouea is a genus of Cretaceous fossil sponges and it is claimed as the shortest word with all five vowels in it.
