The Book Depository CompetitionsRSS

The prize is a two week Intrepid adventure in India for two people. You and a friend will join locals on their trains, in their villages and even in their homes on this journey through the heart of Rajasthan. Immerse your senses in the exotic spice bazaars of Old Delhi, catch a Bollywood blockbuster in Jaipur, go in search of the elusive Bengal tiger in Ranthambhore and fall in love with the opulent temples and palaces of this colourful Indian province. Details can be found on our special India page and Intrepid's website.
We'd like you to break out your thesauri and find the five most descriptive words you can think of to describe India. The winner will be the most evocative descriptions as chosen by our independent judge.
It's a massive prize to miss out on but 10 runners up will each receive a fantastic Lonely Planet India guide.
Just enter your five words in the boxes below!
Competition closes at midnight GMT on 15 March 2012.
Update: And here they are, the five winning words and what our independent judge had to say:
Flamboyant Resplendant Majestic Absurd Intense
Enjoyed having a look over the entries and some good stuff in there - some folk clearly been trawling their thesaurus as well - and the ultimate winner would probably have been a combination of a couple of entries! Couple of favourites though and really liked the list of colours to capture India by, but I'm going to plump for number 9, Carol Edelberg and say that this summed up India most completely.

I was born in India and had to leave with my family in 1947 (Partition) and I missed it dearly in the early years. I would dearly love to do a trip back and take my daughter so she could see the area I lived in as a young girl. Fantastic competition

So far as I am able to judge, nothing has been left undone, either by man or nature, to make India the most extraordinary country that the sun visits on his rounds. Nothing seems to have been forgotten, nothing overlooked. ~~~ Mark Twain (American writer) :):):):)
