The Book Depository Competitions

Darcey Bussell is one of the greatest English ballerinas of all time and has achieved legendary status in the dance world over her 20 year career. Accompanied by stunning images from some of today's leading photographers such as Mario Testino, Lord Snowdon and Mary McCartney, this book chronicles Darcey from her early years through to her final performance of MacMillan's Song of the Earth in 2007.
Along with images of her on stage and in costume, there are intimate behind-the-scenes photos of rehearsals and preparation. Darcey provides a fascinating insight into the ballet world, with personal anecdotes and memories of some of the most important moments in her career. It features her now famous performances in ballets such as Swan Lake, Cinderella, Giselle, Manon, The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty.
At the age of 13, Darcey was accepted into the Royal Ballet Lower School in London, eventually graduating from the Royal Ballet Upper School in 1987. Two years later at 19 years old she became the youngest ever British ballerina to be given the honour of Principal dancer and became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2006. Darcey's final performance in 2007 was broadcast to more than 3.3 million viewers. She's also the newest judge on one of the UK's favourite television shows, Strictly Come Dancing.
With thanks to Hardie Grant Books, we are offering one lucky winner a signed limited edition copy of Darcey Bussell that comes presented in a box and hand numbered. Five runners up will receive a signed copy of the Darcey Bussell standard edition.
Just answer the simple question below by Monday October 1st.

Darcey is a beautiful slender & very tender Ballerina. I especially remember her performance on The Vicar of Dibley with Dawn French it showed her sense of fun as well as being perfectly poised.

Darcey Bussell has achieved so much in her career. She is a beautiful ballerina & a great roll model for all aspiring dancers. Her famous sketch with Dawn French shows what a sense of humour & good sport she is! I think she is just wonderful.

I wonder why all want the book to give it away to someone. It's a beautiful book which I would love to read and keep for it is about a woman who made it. God knows what trials and tribulations she had to go through in order to reach her objective. I would read it to my granddaughter who is quite a promising ballerina and show her that with perseverance, and keeping Darcey as a role model she will also achieve her dream of dancing "up to the stars"!

Like Darcey Bussell I began ballet at 13 and was a principal at 19. That's where the similarity stops. It was many, many years ago. I have followed her career and an autographed copy would be a highlight of my interest.

What a beautiful book. My son's partner is a dancer and she is going to have a little baby girl which is due on New Years day. She is already making plans for her wee girl to attend dance classes and is so excited about having her daughter follow in her footsteps, what a beautiful gift this would be for her. Hope I win it.

This book looks stunning - the cover picture shows the quality of the book. I have seen Ms Bussell dance only on video but have met her (in Canberra). She was utterly beautiful, gracious, charming and down to earth. And to think she can dance divinely as well! How I would love this book to pull off the shelves and just get lost in another world!
