Reviews for Where Demons Fear to Tread
I want Julian
I had this book for a while in my bookshelf: won at Dark Faerie Tales, in last October or November... And I was super happy to have this book, I was looking for it since its release and the summary really helps me to crave for this book: Angels versus Demons, love, power, everything is set to make the reader to want more and more!
I was surprise by how fast I fell for this story; I couldn't put the book down! I almost read it in one strait line until the end! I love everything about this story: the plot, the actions, the pace, the characters, the bad guys! Oh these vicious guys! I even think I love the bad guys more than the good guys!
Serena is a guardian angel and her first mission is called: Nick. She must take him back on the road and save his soul from damnation. She finds herself in the way of the ''devil'' which Julian for his part, did everything he could to damn most woman/man possible. But soon, Julian will perceive that Serena is more than just an angel who's beginning her career and will do everything to make her fall into his arms and by in the same way make her a Fallen Angel. Good versus evil! YAY what more can I said... (Julian, please make me fall! :P)
The plot wasn't something I never read about or saw in a movie but the way the author introduces her characters, the things Julian's doing to make Serena fall (which seems to work easily), the personalities of the characters and especially the''evil''of this story, make me love the book even more. The author's style is very fluid and clean. Easy to read and hard to ignore the erotic scenes! The description and details make me stayed on the edge of the couch more than once! I think this story is very entertaining, especially if you like the kind of angels versus demons like me. I enjoy the end; the author could have an easy end of the genre: they lived happily and had several children...
Stephanie Chong did not forget to tell the past of the characters and this makes the reader understand better the choices made by them. I think the story of Julian is very important and makes us reflect on many aspects of life in general.
The only thing I found a little tired is the fact that I found Serena was a little childish sometimes. She made some naive choices, even for her age and I had the impression that these gestures and actions were merely inadvertent, but still childish.
I loved the villains of this story and I hope to see in future books!
Stephanie Chong has created a wonderful world that is worth discovering if you are lovers or simply lovers of paranormal romance, this book is for you! This is a must read!

PNR must read for lovers of angels and demons!
Julian, Archdemon residing in Los Angeles runs the hottest clubs in the country his way of sending souls to hell through bribe, lust and death, and the mix of all three. Devilishly handsome, tall and dark he's the opposite of Serena - and you know what they say of opposites, they attract.
Serena, innocent angel in her first year in earning her wings is sent to guard Nick, a Hollywood bad boy, this is how she ends up in one of Julian's nightclubs and is soon battling off Julian's advances, threats and bribery. See Julian wants her, badly, and a demon doesn't take no for an answer.
After series of events of wooing the angel in vain, finally some blackmailing works and Julian sets up a contract that she will spend a week with him in Vegas where his new club is to open the coming week. He has a week to get Serena into bed, but week is a long time and there is fear that Julian might begin to feel more than lust for Serena - and Serena might fall from grace being so close to Julian, who seems to be just a little more than a demon...
Ah! This book, gorgeous debut! Chong writes beautifully, you can hear old classics like Earth Angel and Can't help falling in love, while you read the scenes where Julian takes her hand and takes her to the dance floor of the empty club. The story is achingly sweet with delicious scenes where Serena keeps dodging Julian's advances while they move around in Las Vegas.
This book has freshness of a new story but the golden shimmer of ol' Sin City glamour.
Julian is so bad for her, but so right for her, it's wonderful, heartbreaking to read. Serena is so innocent it's almost sacrilege that he wants her, but then again you so want her to give in a little just to feel his light touch on her skin even once.
The end of the book - I loved it you can tell the author knows few things about spirituality, she studied yoga for years before making Serena a yoga instructor, and some eastern wisdom stuck. I loved reading the end as much as the whole book in total!
The music below sets the mood of this book to the t, especially Earth Angel and Unchained Melody... which I cannot stop listening to now, I just keep recycling these songs below on an endless loop to hold on to the feeling of the book.
Music : Goes well with Chuck Berry's Earth Angel / Elvis' Can't help falling in love / Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody / Nat King Cole's Smile and Love - Especially after they arrive in Las Vegas...

Great for fans of paranormal romance looking for something new
I chose to request this book from NetGalley because I realised I was yet to read much from the new 'angel' paranormal romance explosion. I expected to enjoy the book as an average piece of paranormal romance and nothing more, yet in the end I was pleasantly surprised.
I actually found myself really drawn in by the story and the characters. The overall premise was simple, but the plot was nicely paced and contained plenty of excitment and nervous tension to keep me on the edge of my seat. I really grew to love the characters and became invested in their story, even shedding a tear in a couple of places!
With a lot of fairly average paranormal romance out there, it is a real pleasure to find a novel that gripped me and kept me wanting more. The prose was good, the characters fully realised and fleshed out, and I loved the finale, which resolved the major elements but left a few tantalising loose ends that promise an interesting second book in the future.
I can definitely recommend this to paranormal romance fans looking for something fresh and new.
