Best series I've read...ever!!
I am your 30yo who's read tons of comics in my time, mainly manga & I rarely read USA comics coz they're political, lack depth or too arty-farty but this series blew my socks off! Also being an ex-grunt I appreciated how the author made the battle scenes/tactics/fatigue realistic and what makes it really entertaining is most of the characters are untrained everyday civilians eg. deliveryman, student, teacher, housewife etc. therefore their actions are unpredictable yet understandable. Its a gripping story of survival, decaying morals, struggling to remain sane & family-like bonds among fellow comrades - yep the same typical issues you face in a warzone; but this is more lighthearted coz the main focus is zombies lol. I admit book-one is stereotypical & predictable, its introducing characters but the real excitement starts at book-two onwards!! I brought these hardcovers for about $23AUD each SEP11, takes up less room & has extra content compared to the tradebacks, the hardcover are bigger so the artwork is enlarged & on glossy pages! Only thing I didn't like is that the glossy pages do warp a bit if left open or your fingers pressing too tightly to the pages. Without doubt best comic series I've ever read thus far. by John Lukaszewicz
