Liz Murphy Out of all the Kit-Lit (kitty literature) this is by far the best, paws down. Tom Cox's description of the stereotyped 'Crazy Cat Lady' is purrfect as well as pointing out the lack of avid male cat fans, and speculation to where their possible whereabouts are. The book is a complete page turner - a biographical account of Cox's life as a pet owner, starting from his childhood.

Cox writes eloquently and in a witty style about many cats - with many feline protagonists there wasn't that sense of impending doom, after a long bond with the hero of a great kit-lit when you know the whiskered creature is soon going to be departing for their afterlife - leaving readers utterly devastated - but instead Under The Paw offers readers many tales of delightfully wonderful feline friends, Monty being my favorite. It is funny and smart, as well as giving our beloved cats a great testimony and an honest portrayal.

Cox is an utterly talented writer. In-between chapters, a cat - dictionary occupies the pages which is very humorous but also very true (and a little practical).

I cannot recommend this book anymore - to be read right meow !

Cox's follow up book Talk to the Tail: Adventures in Cat Ownership and Beyond has been ordered online and from the standard of Under The Paw I am assured it will be equally brilliant. A review of it will be coming shortly. by Liz Murphy
