DescriptionNow a major film directed by Angelina Jolie to be released in 2014, this is the true story of one incredibly resilient WWII flier from the author of 'Seabiscuit'. On a May afternoon in 1943, a US bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean. After an agonising delay, a young lieutenant finally bobbed to the surface and struggled aboard a life raft. So begins one of the most extraordinary odysseys of the Second World War. The lieutenant's name was Louis Zamperini. Andy Pullar A great story, extremely readable for a non-fiction book. The characters are very real and the story fascinating. What these guys endured in the Japanese POW camp and the sadistic guards that dealt out the inhuman treatment makes disturbing reading. The strength of the main character and his will to live comes through from page one. Definitely worth a read. by Andy Pullar
