Reviews for Twilight

  • The Twilight Effect5

Patricia Melo Twilight was my first "bridge" to vampire romance and the return to reading daily several genres of books. My love for other worlds beyond the pages was always an addiction and this book hit the target.

So about Bella, she was to me a very grown up character and very well created heroin. With her soft, quiet personality, she is the image that simple is beautiful.

Edward was the prince charming that everyone dreamed of at that age. Protective and dangerous, a vampire should you imagine, that falls hopelessly in love with a weak mortal woman.

This two along with the feelings that words can take effect on readers along this ride created a recipe for success that took over the world by storm and entered in our tv and movie screens to always remember love. by Patricia Melo

  • I don't hate it, but I wouldn't recommend it2

Sarah The plot is not written very well at all. The characters are undefined and static. I think the love between Edward and Bella is real but if it moved slower it would have been a much better book. The only other thing I wish the author would have added was a little REAL drama and kept the love in the background. I would not recommend this book. by Sarah

  • Not everyone's cup of tea4

C Like most things in life there will be people who love a certain thing and there will be those who absolutely hate it.
This book (and saga) is certainly one of them. Given the feedback from friends and relatives I approached this book with an open mind. To my surprise I didn't find it as painful as I was told to expect.
It's not the worst book I've read but neither is it the greatest.
I'm far from classifying myself as a "Twi-hard" but I've no problem in saying that I kind of enjoyed the book and it's little bit of forbidden love. by C

Its weird how such a badly written book has been so successful.2

Andi Unlike previous reviews that have been written for this book mine will not have unwarranted capital letters and exclamation points (In the intrest of your sanity).

This novel has a very boring, plain and not-very-well-described main character - Bella. This was most likely done in an effort so the tween females reading the novel can imprint their own personalities and looks onto her, and have vampire fantasies.

There is no denying that the dominant reading portrays females as damsels in distress, unintelligent and always in need of a male to be around.

In my opinion, Stephenie Meyer should have focused more on the vampire side of the story - going into more depth with those characters and their abilities. In addition, to, of course giving the main characters - Edward aswell as Bella, personality. There is literally no word-painting in this novel.

Overall, Your'e going to read it anyway because of how successful it is therefore this review is redundant. by Andi

  • Worst Book Ever1

Petya Birant Seriously. The story has no plot, the characters are boring.Bella Swan is an insult to women and girls and Edward Cullen is an insult to vampires.Don't waste £6.33 on this book, you know, with the credit crunch. by Petya Birant

    Wow! Epic! by Eleanor

  • Enchantingly Breathtaking!5

R.D-Diaz This book is marketed for young adults but definitely will tend to cross age barriers and will be loved by adults alike.

Story of Edward and Bella's love for each other. Told in first person and only from the perspective of Bella and of what she knows, making the history of Edward and his family a coveted mystery.

Compelling but lightly written compared to other vampire centered stories.

Bella is a very believable character, you either like her or hate her. Edward described as pale, anemic greek-like beauty who hated what he had become but was thankful at the same time thankful in a way to the one who converted him.

Compelling, addictive and melancholy read and page a turner. It will leave you wanting for more! by R.D-Diaz

Kim Whew, what a page turner! Meyer's writing skill is slight too amateur to like or enjoy, but her storytelling skill is superbly addictive and absorbing that u'll forget about the cons if u notice any. Meyer easily pulls u into the mind and body of the heroine so that u'll crave for super cool (actually i find him hot) vampire Edward Cullen just like the heroine does. Forget eerie creepy vampires, but this is smashing smexy vampire to die for. Romantic forbidden love, true love, obsessive love ... it's simply mesmerizing.

I'm 37yo avid non-fiction reader (e.g. Napoleon Hil, Carnegie, Peale, Kiyosaki, etc). Last time i read fiction was JK Rowling at 27yo, and before that JR Tolkien at 7yo. Since everyone's raving, comparing or saying this is the next series to dig into, so i gave Meyer a try. I'm glad i did. Btw, i recommend to read the book before watching the movie. by Kim

Lauren I only got into Twilight when i heard there's a new film coming out which features Paramore in it. I love Paramore. When Twilight came out in the cinema I never got a chance to see it, so i waited for it to come out on DVD. When it did, i watched it over and over and then bought all the books and read them all in a week. THEY ARE THE MOST AMAZING BOOKS I'VE EVER READ, EVER. I've also read the first draft of Midnight Sun: Edwards Version Of Twilight which is 264 pages (ie not finished) of Twilight from Edward. I almost loved it more than when it's coming from Bella. To read Midnight Sun go to www.stepheniemeyer.com and click on Twilight Series and then Midnight Sun. Loved it. by Lauren
