From the #1 "New York Times" bestselling author S.C. Stephens comes the new adult series everyone is talking about. For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender, and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together--Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university--everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source--a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes...and none of them will ever be the same.

21-year-old Kiera and Denny have been together for almost 2 years, and now Denny has managed to land the internship of a lifetime, so Kiera has switched universities, and travelled thousands of miles to move with him to his new job in Seattle.
She's not sure what to expect from Seattle other than the bliss of finally living together, and their new housemate Kellan is not exactly what she expected. He's drop-dead gorgeous, and a real-life rock god as the singer in a band - The D-Bags.
When Denny then leaves her for 2 months to go set up a new office in Tucson, Kiera is devastated - how can he possibly leave her when she is only in Seattle because of him? And as his phone calls become less frequent, Kiera struggles to cope. When he calls to say that he has accepted a job in Tucson, it's the final straw, and Kiera breaks up with him, only to fall into bed with Kellan, who has been there for her whilst she has struggled with Denny's absence.
When Denny returns having turned down the job so that he could stay with Kiera, Kiera is overcome with guilt over sleeping with Kellan, but finds that forgetting him is not so easy. Kiera and Kellan struggle to overcome their feelings for one another, but lust has turned to love, and now Kiera must make a choice Denny or Kellan?
My thoughts during this book were varied to say the least! It really was a bit of a rollercoaster of a journey, and at so many points I just wanted to shake Kiera to try and knock some sense into her! I'm afraid this could take a long time...
Initially I liked the story building - I liked how Kiera felt towards Denny, and how they were finally going to be able to live together, even though it meant defying her parents to some extent.
At 18% (Denny has gone to Tucson, and Kiera is home and flirting with Kellan) I was absolutely disgusted with Kiera. I understood that she was missing Denny, but her behaviour towards Kellan was just totally unacceptable. Holding hands, hugging, cuddling up together, and falling asleep together on the sofa? I'm sorry, but what the hell was she thinking? She's in love with Denny, she's in a serious relationship with Denny, just because he isn't home with her at that moment doesn't make it okay for her to behave the way she was behaving with Kellan!
I think that she herself should probably have realised this, she is definitely old enough to realise what she is doing. If even Griffin (Kellan's friend who loves casual sex) looks at her with a 'WTF are you doing?' expression on his face, she should be able to work it out too!
Surely she should realise that as 'innocent' as she thinks their flirting is, Denny would not be happy about it! Why does she think it's appropriate to be hugging and snuggling with someone who isn't her boyfriend?
At 30% (Denny has come home and Kiera has gone back to him) I just couldn't believe that Kiera couldn't put 2 and 2 together and work out why Kellan was unhappy. I mean would she not be unhappy if she had come home to find him with another girl? In all the time she has known him she hasn't known him to casually sleep with anyone, so why does she think that he would casually sleep with her behind Denny's back?
She doesn't seem to have any idea that maybe Kellan's feelings for her are real, and that he might be hurt by her using him and then going back to Denny. How clueless is she?
At 40% (She's with Denny, but still 'flirting' with Kellen) Kiera has laid down some ground rules so that she and Kellan can continue to 'flirt'. 1. No sex, 2. No intimate touching, and 3. No kissing. She's perfectly happy to carry on with the hugging, cuddling, and holding hands though - albeit behind Denny's back - they wait 'til he is out of the house or asleep. Does she not realise that this is just as much of a betrayal as if she was sleeping with Kellan? She must understand that Denny wouldn't like this, or she wouldn't be so careful to hide it from him. How long does she really think she can keep this up? How does she see this little flirtation working out? This is a nasty situation that she has gotten herself into, and there is no easy answer. She does need to break it off with one of them though, 'cause the longer this continues the more difficult and complicated it will get, and she may end up with no one.
57% - (She's still officially with Denny, but it's Kellan she's thinking of when they have sex) What are you doing you crazy girl? Yeah Denny's beautiful, but it's Kellan you're thinking of when you're getting down to it with Denny! Face up to it, be a big girl, and dump Denny. Yeah he'll be crushed, but I'm sure he'd rather be with someone who loves him ultimately.
74% - Just aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!
78% - JUST TELL HIM ALREADY!!!
Okay - I'm going to stop there because I don't want to spoil it for anyone...
Anyway, Kiera also annoyed me for other reasons. She was a bit of a prude, and a bit of a spoil-sport to be honest. She doesn't swear, she doesn't really drink, and she doesn't like rollercoasters or scary rides of any description. The merest hint of anything sexual causes her to blush as red as a tomato, even the word 'sex' makes her blush, and a simple innuendo sends her totally over the edge.
She also annoyed me when she commented about how happy she was that Kellan wasn't drinking with his friends - not because he was driving, but because she liked that he didn't need alcohol to 'enhance his fun'. I mean really?
She was also totally clueless as to what her actions towards Kellan were doing to him! She was happy that he was ignoring other girls, she was happy that he liked to hold her hand and give her cuddles, and couldn't work out why he was upset when she slept with him and then went back to Denny! She had absolutely no idea that the sex had meant something to him, and was totally blind to the fact that he obviously had feelings for her! She even commented that she didn't understand why he was so irritated with her! I was just incredulous! And she thinks she's smart!
And another thing - I'm just going by what I've watched on TV here, I've never personally had an affair - but who has sex with someone else, goes home with the boyfriend, and doesn't shower until the next morning? Or has sex with one guy, then goes and gets into bed with her boyfriend without showering? Does she not feel dirty? Does she not want to wash the smell of Kellan off her so that Denny doesn't notice? I thought this was a little odd.
Kiera also has a problem with repeating herself, her favourite line being 'I need more time...' which she must have used about 100 times. I'm sorry Kiera, but if you had all the time in the world you would still be too chicken to actually confess to Denny what is going on. I know she loves them both, but she has to do something! Even if she has to write it in a letter, she can't keep doing what she's doing!
Okay, now that I've got all that off my chest, onto other stuff. This book was long, it was slow paced, I personally hate people who cheat, and Kiera was annoying. That being said, I got to the end of this book and I actually found that I loved it! Believe me - I was shocked too! As frustrating as the whole thing was, I loved Kellan, I loved how tension was built between the characters, and the sex scenes were steaming!! I have to say that after all the random love triangles that pop up in YA books, it was nice to see a love triangle that actually exploded and had consequences, and wasn't solved easily or bypassed in any way. It was also a nice change that nobody was suddenly a vampire, witch, werewolf etc.
So, overall; I really enjoyed this book! I shouted, I got frustrated, I wanted to bang heads together, shake some sense into Kiera, and kiss Kellan. The love scenes were steamy, and the storyline kept me wanting more all the way through.
8.5 out of 10
"Stephens has perfectly and with gut-wrenching honesty portrayed the reality of a love triangle, and the mess that ensues when bonds are severed and new ones are formed. What happens when you find your soul mate at the worst possible time, in the least expected place? What if being with that person means doing the most wrong thing you've ever done? "Thoughtless" is one of those books that leaves you thinking about these questions, the characters and their choices for days if not weeks after reading."--Tammara Webber, author of Easy
