Reviews for The Book Thief

  • Five star!5

Charlotte Orth This is the first five star book that I have read in ages. I loved it that death was the narrator. The surprise was that the movie was just as good as the book and that rarely happens. by Charlotte Orth

  • What are these reviewers talking about?1

ms n woodspring This is a poorly written, highly offensive book. The language and sentence structure, for the most part is just plain silly. The author's flourishes, attempts at some grand written word are awful; actually they are painful to read. The story is a poor attempt to pull at some collective sense of guilt over the Holocaust...shameful, objectifying stereotypes. If you don't believe me, read some of the reviews written by 'good' literary critics. by ms n woodspring

  • Brings you on a Journey!5

Samantha Lou The Book Thief is heart wrenchingly real. This book made me laugh, cry, cringe in horror and live alongside Liesel, rudy and Max for a while.

Liesel is sent to a set of foster parents in Molching, Munich along with her brother but something happens that leaves emotional scars that comes back in the form of nightmares. Her foster parents are as different as day and night but she grows to love them through the many reading sessions, the doing of chores and the hiding of Max.

This book is for you if your imagination brings you places where there is something magical about the ordinary. by Samantha Lou

  • Certified great read5

    C. van kempen If you decide to read only one book this year (can't imagine why only one book) make sure this is the book you pick.

I read this a few years back and it still makes me feel sad and happy at the same time.

Sad of becasue what happens in the book and happy because Markus Zusak was good enough to share this with me (and you!).

Again, go and read this book now! by C. van kempen
