  I bought this for a young child (under 4) who had experienced domestic violence. This book gave her the opportunity to talk about her feelings. The most important thing she gained from it was understanding that the terrible thing she saw was not her fault.
  One criticism though: the main character, Sherman, teases his sister and this as presented as a normal day to day activity, which seems like a pretty huge oversite for a book that's meant to deal with childhood trauma. I leave this part out when reading the book to children. by linnea
