`Step into Shadow Falls, a camp for teens with supernatural powers. Here friendship thrives, love takes you by surprise, and our hearts possess the greatest magic of all.` Kylie Galen wants the truth so badly she can taste it. The truth about who her real family is, the truth about which boy she's meant to be with--and the truth about what her emerging powers mean. But she's about to discover that some secrets can change your life forever...and not always for the better. Just when she and Lucas are finally getting close, she learns that his pack has forbidden them from being together. Was it a mistake to pick him over Derek? And it's not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning, `someone lives and someone dies. `As Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, she finally unlocks the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different--and more astonishing--than she ever imagined.

C.C. Hunter is the author of the young adult fantasy series Shadow Falls, including the books" Born at Midnight" and "Awake at Dawn." She grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she's still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is so not a frog. When she's not writing, she's reading, spending time with her family, or shooting things--with a camera, not a gun. C.C. Hunter is a pseudonym. Her real name is Christie Craig and she also writes humorous romantic suspense romance novels.

This one sucked me in and didn't let go just like the others in the series. Kylie continues to surprise me with her bravery and determined mindedness to find out who and what she is. Every time something new arises, I am just as surprised and intrigued as she is.
The plot doesn't get old either, there are new twists, and the characters always have something going on that keeps me guessing, swooning, and wanting to read more.
Okay, so about the romance, especially at the beginning... Kylie is being blind and unfair about Derek. This observation is from the last of the second book and the first few pages of tad so it may be unfair of me add week, but i think that Derek is right and out odd not that it is too hard to be with her but that she truly hadn't decided and that really want fair to him for her heart too be divided brethren him and Lucas. But from the beginning it seems that Lucas will get house chance to shine and win her heart.
Bottom line: Great addition to a superb series.
Praise for the Shadow Falls series: ``Taken at Dusk `has even more drama and answers for Kylie. Jam-packed with action and romance from the very beginning, Hunter's lifelike characters and paranormal creatures populate a plot that will keep you guessing till the very end. A perfect mesh of mystery, thriller, and romance. Vampires, weres and fae, oh my!` -Romantic Times`The evolving, not-always-easy relationships among Kylie and her cabin mates Della and Miranda are rendered as engagingly as Kylie's angst over dangerous Lucas and appealing Derek. Just enough plot threads are tied up to make a satisfying stand-alone tale while whetting appetites for sequels to come` -`Publishers Weekly```Born at Midnight` is addicting. Kylie's journey of self-discovery and friendship is so full of honesty, it's impossible not to fall in love with her and Shadow Falls..and with two sexy males vying for her attention, the romance is scorching. `Born at Midnight` has me begging for more, and I love, love, love it!` -`Verb Vixen``There are so many books in the young adult paranormal genre these days that it's hard to choose a good one. I was so very glad to discover `Born at Midnight`. If you like P.C. and Kristin Cast or Alyson Noel, I am sure you will enjoy `Born at Midnight`!` -`Night Owl Reviews``This has everything a YA reader would want...I read it over a week ago and I am still thinking about it. I can't get it out of my head. I can't wait to read more. This series is going to be a hit!` -`Awesome Sauce Book Club``Seriously loved this book! This is definitely a series you will want to watch out for. C.C. Hunter has created a world of hot paranormals that I didn't want to leave.` --`Looksie Lovitz Book Blog``I absolutely LOVED it. Wow, it blew me away.` -Nina Bangs, author of `Eternal Prey``Fun and compulsively readable, with a winning heroine and an intriguing cast of secondary characters` -Jenna Black, author of `Glimmerglass`
