under reviewAn Illustrators Point of View On Shiver
Shiver is prob what you would call 'another Twilight' inspired book what with the forbidden love and an element of family anguish. But i feel that its better.First of all Shiver is a real tear jerker. So if you dont want to cry then i suggest you dont read it. But despite that i could read this book again and again. Unlike other books i feel that it was alot more real and believable and in the end what made it different was the balence between the two becuase of the emotions of them being torn between two worlds, and as the reader you feel there pain. The structure of the book is also what makes it different. The alternation of chapters means you get Graces and Sams point of view. Overall Shiver is a must read and i am so excited about reading the next in the trilogy Linger. Tissues at the ready! by Emmi

I absolutely adore this book. Story is told from 2 characteristic manners and both have unbelievable strong personalities that sometimes you got lost in their thoughts trying to figure out weather it was/wasn't yours first. As Grace and Sam struggles to enjoy every moment with each other they both have other problems as well. I absolutely adored chapters which was from Sam side because they were so full of energy and emotions that sometimes I was angry at Grace not to do with him what I wanted to see her doing. On the other side Grace is more mature and realistic however their secret binds them together for eternity. To see how characters develop and struggles to survive and get what they want was absolutely marvelous. Writing style is easy readable (as English is not my main language) and this story won't only make you feel like you are in it but also will let you think about decision making how would you choose, what road you would take if you were in Graces/Sam position.
This book inspired me and made me cry several times. I absolutely enjoyed reading it and won't hesitate to re-read it again soon enough. It fills you with such energy and emotions that you would want to let your loved one to hug you very strong and never let go because you will feel like one day he/she could just vanish without any trace. Story is about love, passion, mystic, decision making and trying to figure out weather something is worth to change your all living order.
"I thought she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen, a tiny bloody angel in the snow, and they were going to destroy her."
/Sam./ by Madaraunder reviewShiver = 5 Stars
One of the most appealing things about Shiver is the world that it is set in - it's so believable. The concept of a werewolf/shapshifter who changes from wolf to human with the seasons is definitely not something I have heard of before, and I love it!
I really liked that there was a role reversal for the main characters in Shiver. What I mean by that is that lately, a lot of paranormal books have been about weak, dependent females falling in love with broody alpha males. In Shiver though, the characters are very deep. Grace is very independent and Sam relies largely on her, he is the emotional one. And it just makes him so gosh darn cute!
Speaking of Sam and Grace, their relationship was, really, the main focus of Shiver. I found their playful banter adorable; and the way they acted around each other, and thought about each other, made it obvious that they really were in love, not lust. However... I do wish that there had been more of a build up of feelings between them, rather than the instant love.
Maggie Stiefvater's writing is beautiful to say the least. She sets the tone so well in key moments of the story and the descriptions of the wolves and their eyes are breath-taking. Also, this book is told from the perspective of Grace and Sam, each with alternating chapters. That is something that can be very hard to pull off, but Stiefvater does it well in this fascinating tale.
The ending is satisfying but at the same time I hate where it finishes, but only because I want to know more immediately (I'm quite impatient)! Instead I have to wait for July 20th for Linger, Book Two of the Wolves Of Mercy Falls, to come out. And that is so far away!
Overall, I loved Shiver and rate it at 5 stars out of 5. I recommend it to lovers of fantasy, paranormal, teen romance and particularly wolf/werewole/shapeshifter stories. by Amy Mansellunder reviewOn paranormal romances and book trailers
What do you do when you stumble over a recommendation for the next "supernatural meets girl"? My first instinct would be to turn and flee. Because, I'll admit, I hate 'paranormal romance' as a sub-genre with a passion. Not the books, just the genre. It makes me itchy.
But then that recommendation comes in the form of a book trailer - one that not only looks brilliant, and has an awesome soundtrack too. After the initial stage of green-with-envy, because surely it's unfair that someone - anyone - can write, draw ánd compose, somehow the trailer tempts you into buying the book.
That is where reading Shiver starts. Or at least that's where it started for me. After that my cats could have turned into wolves without my noticing it, because I was completely engrossed.
Both Shiver's main characters - Grace and Sam the Wolf - are likeable and as a reader you get the chance to get to know them well as they take turns to tell the story from the moment they first met to... the end of the book.
The story itself is classic, cute, exciting, and (dare I say?) romantic. Love in the face of winter. It wasn't terribly surprising and at points I thought it dragged on a little too much. Still after those moments of lull the story always picked up the pace again and managed to hold my attention and surprise me with a clever twist.
However what convinced me most was Stiefvater's wonderful, and very accessible writing style. That, combined with the other truly amazing book trailers she made, convinced me to read Stiefvater's other books too, while I'm awaiting the next book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls series - Linger. by Mariekeunder review
