Kira returns to Atlanta where her training in Egyptology involves a new museum exhibit that allows visitors to experience a pharaoh's journey through the underworld. On top of the day job, her defeat of the Fallen a few months before left a power vacuum in the Shadow community. The paranormal body count begins to point to a serial killer, pitting Shadow against Light. Meanwhile, humans are disappearing from the exhibit, some turning up dead. Kira herself is a suspect in the slayings. With the preternatural community suddenly united against her, Kira knows she's got to use all her resources to piece the puzzle together before her town becomes a very public battlefield. When Kira discovers that an old adversary appears to be behind both the killings and the exhibit, all in the effort to resurrect an ancient god, she has no choice but to fight Shadow with Shadow.
