I have just been looking at reviews for this book as i saw some of the T.V series and want to try the recipes. I read Francescas' review and completely agreed with her, if you don't agree, say why! Sadly ( or stupidly) i've clicked the 'disagree' button myself!! I don't actually disagree with her review, i think it was very helpful, i'm just obviously confused by technology, apologies Francesca.

I have a lot of cookbooks - hundreds of them, covering a wide variety of cuisine styles. The River Cottage Veg Every Day is the best. The recipes are clearly written and most of the ingredients are easily sourced if not already in your fridge/kitchen cupboards (or if you're lucky enough to have one, larder).
There are some very quick-to-prepare recipes so when you get home from a busy day, tired and hungry, it's very do-able to prep a fast dhal or chilli or curry. It also makes you realize how affordable it is to eat well. I use the bread recipe for pizza bases (you can roll them out and freeze what you don't need immediately) and it's so easy, though it takes a little planning because of proving time.
HFW doesn't preach and doesn't elevate the recipes to sacred status; he positively encourages deviation and it's easy to tweak a recipe to your own tastes and what ingredients you have to hand.
Though I have lots of lovely books, with great photographs and styling, if I had to pick one to keep over all others, it would be this one.

I just recieved this book last week and have already cooked 2 recipes. They were really easy to make and absolutely delicious! It's certainly not a book that will gather dust in the cupboard...I'll be trying to cook as much of these recipes as possible!!

Cost me $43 New Zealand here and would have been $70 in NZ shops. Great book, ingredients I can get in an NZ supermarket. Go Hugh! nice to see a decent veggie bible by a popular author. Makes a change from buying a book that I can only use a 5th of.
Update: wow, 16 dislikes of my review. Sadly I don't see any imput from those 16 people explaining why they dislike my review or the book. Just tick the box, pass an opinion and justify nothing. What gits.
