Product description

As Red magazine described it, THE POWER OF NOW is the 'must-read bible du jour'. Already a phenomenon in the States where it is the top-selling West Coast title, its success is fast translating around the world too. Eckhart Tolle's book describes the experience of heightened consciousness that radically transformed his life - and shows how by living in the moment we can also reach a higher state of being where we can find joy and peace and where problems do not exist. The invaluable companion volume - PRACTISING THE POWER OF NOW - contains all the essential techniques we need to start to put this important book into practice in our own lives. No reader will be complete without it.

Editorial reviews

Many people will be familiar with Tolle's book The Power of Now; this is a follow-up guide including teachings, meditations and exercises. As such, it's a valuable digest containing the essentials of how to live in the Now and stop being a victim of the past and the future. For most people, living in the Now is an unknown and alien concept. We are used to referring to and remembering the past, so much so that it can rule our lives. But in the Now neither the past nor the future exists. The object is to reach enlightenment through an awareness of Being. Being is your very presence and is available to you at all times once you have learnt to live in the Now. It is your true nature. Your enemy is your ego, that part of you that strives at all times to maintain the status quo. It resists your attempts to change by creating a fear of the unknown. Living in the Now bypasses the ego and frees you from its power. Indeed, it frees you from the power of all destructive influences and leads you along the path to enlightenment - complete freedom from the tyranny of your mind and body. You are released from the past. Once you have this freedom, you no longer need the past or the future. Thought-created problems dissolve; we are led to a quiet place beyond our thoughts and can learn to overcome pain and suffering. The exercises and practices described in the book help you to reach the state of being in the present moment. The book can be read on its own from beginning to end or dipped into as needed. Either way, it has the potential to be a real life-changer. (Kirkus UK)
