    Invaluable resource5

Ellen Elizabeth Seeley This book is an incredible bible of health information for EVERYONE, not just the AI population! As a fellow nutrition- and health geek, I have spent many happy hours combing all the fastidiously researched textual explanations, sidebars, charts, tables, etc. and everything is backed up by endnotes. Sarah's opus is breathtaking and belongs in EVERY doctor's office and family home. Love it. by Ellen Elizabeth Seeley

  • Changed my life5

kelly schmitz This book changed my life and will hopefully change yours. I was eating paleo lifestyle before and buying books and getting recipes on pinterest. When this came out it was dialed in on autoimmune disease and i was diagnosed with MS earlier this year. When i started deleting ingredients that were harmful towards my system and actually causing sx's, i started feeling so much better. I no longer require pain meds, no PT or chiropractic work and i am working out doing crossfit!!! i have never felt better and will spread the good word about this book forever by kelly schmitz

  • Amazing research!5

Heidi Amazingly detailed research - very helpful info you won't get from most doctors! by Heidi

  • My Autoimmune Bible!5

Mary Anna Singer The minute I got it out of the package, I was impressed. The charts & illustrations contribute hugely to information conveyed, and boy is there a lot of it! But it is written in a style that is accessible & only a chapter in I was having "Aha!" moments related to my situation. Thank you so much, Sarah, for this life-changing book. by Mary Anna Singer

  • Take Control of Your Health!5

Erin Cox I call this my AI bible. I admit, some things I have to re-read a few times because the science is so beyond me... but I think that is a selling point for many people who want to know the WHY behind autoimmunity and food's effect on it.

Sarah breaks down every detail as to why tailoring your diet and lifestyle will help with recovery of symptoms and even put an autoimmune disease into remission.

This book was probably one of the greatest investments I could have made for taking back my health. ~ Erin @ Enjoying this Journey by Erin Cox

  • This Book is Transforming my Life!5

Rachel Brown have wanted to improve my health and change my lifestyle habits for the last few years and kind of had an idea of what to do but was lacking motivation. I was experiencing a range of symptoms including joint/muscle pain, extreme fatigue, chronic infections, hair loss, digestive upset, skin rashes/hives, and weight gain. My doctor couldn't offer me any real support. I wasn't sure exactly what I should be eating, but I knew I needed to change my diet and get more exercise. Dr. Ballantyne's research and dedication to helping others with their healing have helped get me on the right track. Buying this book, I thought I was just going to get information on food, and The Paleo Approach contains so much more. While I consider myself to know a good bit about wellness, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book has a great deal of new information and tips on how to be healthy in the bigger picture, including tips on how to SLEEP better.

I have now been on the Autoimmune Paleo diet for almost a month while giving up caffeine, and am seeing huge improvements in my digestion, overall health and energy levels. Plus, Sarah Ballantyne is great at explaining the science for those of us non-science people. I found that reading this book and fully understanding what I was doing to my body by continuing with certain eating and lifestyle habits, really gave me the motivation I needed to make the shift and change my life for the better. The science info can also be helpful when explaining to the people in your life what your up to including the whys and hows.

Best thing is, it's actually working! This way of life is challenging to implement, and having a supportive wealth of knowledge and beacon of success like Dr. Ballantyne is priceless. Love this book. I just bought the Paleo Approach Cookbook, which I highly recommend as well. Also, I have listened to many episodes from Sarah and Stacey's podcast "The Paleo View" to keep the fires of transformation burning. by Rachel Brown

  • The definitive guide to how the immune system works and the role food plays in that process5

Janet This is like a text book you'd find in a high school or college course. Some people might find it intimidating at first but I would urge them to keep going. Sarah Ballantyne has put a ton of research into this and it's chock full of information. She breaks down the technical/medical information in a way that the layperson can understand. She also looks at how that break down in the immune system (which is largely in the gut) can manifest itself in different conditions.

What I love is that she doesn't just explain how the immune system works and how it can be compromised but gives you a comprehensive guide to what foods are good for you, what will compromise your immune system (and why) as well as lifestyle changes to improve your health.

Then there are the charts of information to help you understand what nutrients are in foods, lists of what foods are safe to eat (and there are *lots* of options). I know as someone who was diagnosed with a gluten and soy intolerance, that often when you first find out, you tend to concentrate on what you *can't* have rather than what you can. So having a reminder of all the foods that are available out there that won't undermine your immune system is a huge help. by Janet

  • Great resource!5

Allison Even if you don't think you need this book, trust me - you need it! I personally do not struggle with autoimmune issues, but even so I have found the information in this book to be invaluable in helping me figure out my own body and how to prevent future health complications. Not only that, but it is enabling me to help my sister heal her autoimmune issues. There are applications in this book for everyone, no matter how healthy you already are! There is SO much research behind all the information here and you can definitely feel it, but it doesn't read like a typical "science" book. It is an extremely accessible read. There are a few chapters at the beginning that go through the science of your immune system and how food interacts with that in your body. It's fascinating. Even if you don't like science, I think this book may change your mind. Truly a great read! by Allison
