Reviews for My Body is Private
Tackles a difficult subject pretty well
I bought this book because I thought with my girls getting a little older it was important to ensure their safety as much as possible and give them tools to deal with nasty situations in life. This book is basically a conversation between daughter and mum about appropriate touching - it more or less says that anything a swimsuit covers is private and no one should touch that without permission. It also talks about no meaning no, and how to deal with someone who keeps touching when you have said no, and/or if they want you to keep a secret. Basically it says if you don't like the touching (inc. sitting on knees, excessive tickling, etc) you can say no. Its a bit heavy in parts and I don't think it will become a family favourite, however I will make a point of reading it every month or so to make sure the message gets in. If you're like me and you like dealing with difficult issues with these with the help of a book, this one will do the trick however there may be better ones out there if you want something a bit less in your face. by Melissa Rowsell
