I like it! by Cait Dubh
"A tenderly rendered and often hilariously bizarre saga." -The Edmonton Journal
This novel is the story of a girl who grows up to be man, a condition the author calls "middlesex". Cal, the narrator, intertwines his story (the story of a hermaphrodite living as a man despite being raised as a woman) with stories of incest, immigration, politics, coming of age. Eugenides, seemingly effortlessly, has a remarkable way of twisting his narrative into "an uproarious epic, at once funny and sad, about misplaced identities and family secrets" (Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times). by Elena Fofiu
This is one of the best books I have read in a long while. Providing a deep, almost personal, viewpoint into history, as well as an intriguing plot, Eugenides does not belittle the reader, making this very enjoyable. Narrated by the effervescent and probably most unique narrator I have ever come across, this book is not one to be missed. by Blake
