The revised edition was prepared to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its publication, and incorporates over 15,000 words of text omitted from previous editions. At Crydee, a frontier outpost in the tranquil Kingdom of the Isles, an orphan boy, Pug, is apprenticed to a master magician -- and the destinies of two worlds are changed forever. Suddenly the peace of the Kingdom is destroyed as mysterious alien invaders swarm the land. Pug is swept up into the conflict but for him and his warrior friend, Tomas, an odyssey into the unknown has only just begun. Tomas will inherit a legacy of savage power from an ancient civilization. Pug's destiny is to lead him through a rift in the fabric of space and time to the mastery of the unimaginable powers of a strange new magic.

Reviews for Magician
I first picked this up when I was going on a long flight from Australia to England, and the first thing I did when I landed in London was to buy the two sequels (Silverthorn and A Darkness At Sethanon). All three novels move at an excellent pace, and are just so hard to put down. I have personally gone back to these books time and time again, and have found them to engross me every time. The character development is outstanding, and the journey you will go on as you read this brilliant story is one you will never forget. One for all ages! by Scott Jones

In 'Magician', Feist has undoubtedly created one of the best ever fantasy epics that this genre of literature has ever seen. Comparable with Tolkien, Martin and Le Guin, this novel sets the benchmark for any other fantasy book to aspire to.
It is a classic tale of elves, dwarves and men interspersed with friendship, love, betrayal, court intrigue and of course...magic! This is the first novel in the breathtaking Riftwar Saga; a trilogy that defines pure epic fantasy and one which will unquestionably leave you wanting more.
Feist's worlds of Midkemia and Kelewan set as a fantastic backdrop to the rip-roaring, awe inspiring plot that ensues for the protagonists of Pug and Tomas. It is non-stop action that contains beautiful characterisation, vivid landscapes and breathtaking scope.
Magician is a fantasy novel of the highest quality; one which will last in the memory for a long time to come. by T.Eveleighunder review
