For a non-native speakear this book is great. It is exciting and I was glad it didn't end up like most of Sparks's novels, thrilling to the very end.
Sparks's novels are easy to read, it always takes me a few days to finish it. It is catching.

(I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis.)
28-year-old Logan has done 3 tours of Iraq, and knows that the reason he hasn't been killed is because he found a photo of a girl in the sand one day. Ever since he found the photo he has been having a lucky streak.
After seeing one of his best friends killed after leaving Iraq, Logan decides to try and track down the girl in the photo. Walking for months across country with his dog Zeus, following shaky leads, Logan eventually reaches a place called Hampton, where he finds Elizabeth working for her grandmother at a dog-training business.

Logan and Elizabeth hit it off and start a relationship. But Logan doesn't tell her about the photo, and she knows he's hiding something from her. Can their relationship survive when Logan hasn't told Elizabeth the truth about why he came to Hampton? And what trouble has Elizabeth's ex-husband got in store for Logan?

This book was a fairly standard contemporary romance. I really hated the way that Logan lied by omission when he told Elizabeth why he was in Hampton. Starting a relationship on a lie is not a good idea, and I spent a lot of time whilst reading this book, dreading what Elizabeth would say when she found out.

Logan talked on several occasions about his tours in Iraq, which I wasn't particularly interested in, as the thought of being in a war depresses me. I disliked the ex-husband - Clayton, who was basically a total pig, and felt sorry for the poor kid - Ben who had him for a dad.

I didn't foresee the grand finale to the book, but I did foresee the happily ever after.
3 out of 5.
