Product description

Continuing the story of The Hobbit, this three-volume boxed set of Tolkien's epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, features striking black covers based on Tolkien's own design, the definitive text, and three maps including a detailed map of Middle-earth. Sauron, the Dark Lord, has gathered to him all the Rings of Power - the means by which he intends to rule Middle-earth. All he lacks in his plans for dominion is the One Ring - the ring that rules them all - which has fallen into the hands of the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose. Since it was first published in 1954, 'The Lord of the Rings' has been a book people have treasured. Steeped in unrivalled magic and otherworldliness, its sweeping fantasy has touched the hearts of young and old alike.

What is their say about this fantastic book other than if you have not read it now you need to read it as quick as possible. The world of Middle-Earth is a truly fascinating one with an incredibly rich and detailed history.
Tokien creates a living breathing world with likable and memorable characters.
There is a lot more information in the books than the movies as is the case most of the time although I am by no means criticizing the movies as they are excellent adaptions but these books were what defined the fantasy genre for the modern age.
A must buy for any lover of fantasy or The Lord of the Rings in general.

There are only two types of people in the world - those who have read The Lord of the Rings and those who should. If you haven't yet read it, just get it and do it. I've been waiting all my life for a book that makes me feel and think a certain way, and I knew within the first twenty pages that I had finally found it. I loved it, and nothing deserves more acclaim. If you didn't like the movies, it doesn't mean anything - the movies are terrible in comparison, (so many details wrong and so little sincerity). Book lovers, do yourself a favour and read this book. You'll adore the way Tolkien writes. Usually in books you only get full-on exciting or beautifully written. I think that this book is one of the only books I've ever read that combines both.
Also, this edition is beautiful. After you read it, I admit that it doesn't fit very well in the box again, but the covers are gorgeous - black with gloss illustrations and Elven script. It's really beautiful.

Astonishing offer! Although it's printed in 1991 (year when I was born), this is still one of the best edition for this money on a market. Everyone who consider himself as a epic genre fan, this is pure essential! One of a kind, Lord Of The Rings is one of those books that track attention to each new generation, and undoubtedly it will be bestseller for years to come. Tollkien deserved it.
