For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

Linger is the sequel of Shiver, and it follows Grace and Sam's story after he was cured. Although Shiver wasn't one of my favorite books, I wanted to know what would happen with Sam and Grace.
In Linger, Sam and Grace are still very much in love and want to be together forever. They are a very sweet couple and their relationship is almost perfect, expect for Grace's parents and her "disease".
The book is still written from Grace and Sam POV, but it was refreshing to read Isabel's and Cole's thoughts too. They were very interesting, more than Grace, because I felt like I knew what was going to happen to her.
The writing was lyrical, almost poetic. It's perfect for this romance, but sometimes for me it was a too descriptive and dramatic.
What doesn't really grabs me are the characters, their feelings. They are always like depressed, even when good things happens to them (ex. Sam). They are too intense and sometimes were too much for me. Maybe that's way Isabel was my favorite this time, she has big troubles but is much more practical and strong.
But, I have to admit that the author managed to convert this book in not another book about werewolves, but a sweet and heartwarming story.
Overall, I'm glad I read Linger. I wasn't so sure after reading Shiver, but I think this book is much better. It's romance, mature, with a little bit more of action and an ending that left you wanting more.

Also reviewed on my blog, the Vintage Bookworm. (http://www.vintagebookworm.blogspot.com)
Oh. My. Gosh. I don't even know what to say! And how many times have you seen me say that on this blog? Ha ha. I just finished Linger about ten minutes ago. I cannot believe the ending! I want to scream! My mind cannot wrap around all of this. I really wish I had Forever in my hands right now. This is going to bug me until I finally do get to read it.
Maggie Stiefvater has done it again. Linger was amazing. Not as good as Shiver, but almost! Still five stars. The writing in this sequel was beautiful and lyrical just like the first, but has a little bit more of a darker edge.
And just like the first novel you are able to get in the heads of Sam and Grace, but they aren't the only ones this time around! You are able to get into Isabel's head and a new character, Cole. I enjoyed reading Isabel's point of view and Cole's, as well! I have loved Isabel from the beginning, she's among my favorite characters. At first I didn't like Cole very much, but I definitely do now! I was able to get to know him a lot throughout the book.
I can't wait for Forever! The ending left with a huge cliffhanger! VERY huge! I NEED to know what happens. I cried at the end for Sam and Grace. Fate is against them, but they aren't ready to give up! It's so tragic and beautiful and it leaves you breathless.

The love story between Grace and Sam continues in this sequel to Stiefvater's SHIVER.
With new points of view from Isabel and a new character, Cole, LINGER is full of new complications and unexpected dangers.
With their future uncertain, Grace and Sam struggle to find a way to stay together. The new trouble brought by Cole isn't helping. To top it all off, something is terribly wrong with Grace. There's only one way to save her, but will Sam be strong enough to do it?
It's hard to write a review of this book without giving too much away. I adored SHIVER and didn't think I'd like LINGER as much. Happily, I was wrong. I love the new addition of Cole's character and the complications and situations he brings to the story. This story will LINGER in my mind as I wait for FOREVER.

Moving. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Poignant. So many different feelings come to mind when thinking of Linger. This was a wonderful book. Having loved Shiver, Linger's predecessor, I was very excited to find out what happens next for Grace and Sam. Maggie Stiefvater did not disappoint. Throughout the novel you come to love Sam, with his paper cranes and poetry, even more than you did before (is that possible?). This story is so well written. Weaved within the intricate plot is imagery that makes even mundane things seem interesting; Like toe nail clippings. However heartrending the new story developments were they were written so well I couldn't stop reading. I enjoyed the additional points of view of Isabelle and Cole. Isabelle was intriguing and you come to know her on an entirely different level while Cole is complex - you hate and love him. At times you just want to hit him, but then he does something unexpected and you can't help but like him. Linger is the perfect continuation of Shiver and I can't wait for Forever to arrive to complete the story. There is so much I still want to know! I highly recommend this book!

I give up. I just don't get it. I read this book start to finish and I still don't know what the plot is supposed to be (aside from being .. basically.. a repeat of Shiver maybe?)
So LINGER was much more confusing to me because of the multiple points of view. I liked it in Shiver - I thought it was one of the best parts of the book but the switch mid-chapters and looking at the story from four points of view was a bit much for me ... especially when it seemed to be all tragic teenager emotions.
And.. instead of just one singer we now have two with the addition of Cole.
So I don't get it. I wanted to like these books because I've heard such fantastic things about them but instead I feel like I've just gone on a long, meandering walk and ended up right back where I started out having seen a bit of pretty scenery along the way.
