Reviews for Last Sacrifice
Fabulous ending to a great series
Accused of a murder she didn't commit, Rose struggles to deal with being left out of the fight to clear her name and just hang out in a jail cell. Forced to leave the work to her friends, she looks for a way to contribute. Given an opportunity to help Lissa, Rose jumps at the change despite the risk to her own life. But that opportunity has her spending a lot of time with Dimitri, who claims their love has faded. Can Rose wait patiently for her friends to save her this time, or will she go stir crazy hanging out with the man she still loves? And who did commit that murder? Are they willing to kill again? What about the royal politics that are reeling from the death? Can Lissa use her influence to help? How far is Lissa willing to go to help Rose?
5 stars - a fabulous finish to a amazing series
The narrator for this audiobook was Emily Shaffer, back from books four and five. Again, I enjoyed her voices/accents. She did an amazing job. I still wasn't a fan of the music that was added but I didn't let it get in the way of enjoying the book. Really there wasn't a lot but it still seemed strange to me.
What can I say about this book that I haven't said in the previous five reviews for this series? I love the characters. Rose is amazingly strong yet she makes mistakes, grows from them, and becomes a better person for it. Dimitri is back like never before. I had missed his strong presence that was just not there when he was a strigoi and/or recovering from it. But he is in full guardian mode in this book. I loved it. Adrian was his normal fun boy toy for most of the book but my heart broke for him. I knew it was coming but I hope there is something better for him in the next series. He deserves something better than he got. Christian was a little less snarky in this book, which I missed, but it wasn't needed since his role was different. He did do a fabulous job of helping the author with some misdirection. Nice job Christian. Lissa is Lissa. I love her.
The story is brilliantly woven with action and passion told from Rose's point of view in her location, in Lissa's mind back at court and in a variety of dreams. I was surprised how well all the little details from so much of the series just came together to create the perfect ending for a very turbulent series. As for the murderer? I didn't see it coming. High praise from me, really; I am very good at figuring things out ahead of time. But Richelle does an amazing job of misdirection while leaving the clues like bread crumbs in the pages. What things I did guess were never done in quite the way I expected either.
This book takes approximately 13 hours to listen to and that's about how much time it took me to get through this book. Once I started it, I couldn't stop. If YA is your thing, then this series is a must read. Get on it! by Valerie Fink

Wow! A great ending to an exceptional series. I was glued to this as with the rest of the series. I wanted to take it slow but what can I say? It was beyond me. From the beginning of the series I have been fascinated with Rose and Lissa's character. Their personality were very well developed throughout the series; it was interesting how they grew and matured. The plot have been magnificent. Richelle Mead really captivates readers with how she plays the plot and also her portrayal of all the characters and their distinct personalities. The journey throughout the series has been intense and this one was no less.
Last sacrifice is about how Rose and friends unearth the real murderer of Tatiana and Rose's quest to discover Lissa's illegitimate sister.
And.... the one we're all waiting for; Who is the one for Rose? Dimitri or Adrian? The tension and intensity of the romance was so addicting.
Everything was superb except I would have preferred Abe to have had more scope in the plot and a tad more intense ending.... by Shayla

Rose is in jail, awaiting her trial for the murder of Queen Tatiana. Rose isn't good at being patient and away from the action. She can't stand being locked up. It's driving her crazy.
Then her father lawyer comes for a visit, telling her the trial date has been moved up. Instead of having a month, they might have two weeks. Rose knows that's not going to be enough time to uncover the real murderer.
She doesn't have much time to worry, though, because on the date of the funeral, her friends break her out of prison. Now, she's on the run and supposed to go into hiding.
But Rose never does anything the easy way. She also has a secret to uncover from the late Queen. Can she clear her name and put the kingdom back to rights - or will she be forever on the outside?
LAST SACRIFICE is a perfect ending for an amazing series. I love Rose for her feisty behavior, for her loyalty, and for her moral compass. I'm going to miss reading about her adventures: the danger, the friendship bond, and the romance.
VAMPIRE ACADEMY is simply a marvelous series.

Wow. . .
That's all I can basically say to this incredible last installment of the international bestselling series, Vampire Academy. I have loved the series from the start. It's my number one favorite vampire series, and it may be pretty safe to say that it's my number one favorite series of all. I have never been disappointed with this series, and reading Last Sacrifice was no different.
I counted down the days until it was released, but wasn't able to get a copy of it. But as soon as christmas came up and my hubby gave me a $50 dollar visa giftcard to get books, this was the first one on my list to order and when I finally got my hands on it I didn't know what to do. I wanted to read it, but at the same time I kind of wanted to save the story.
When I started reading it, I had to take it slow. Which is very hard to do with a Vampire Academy novel. VERY hard. I would of finished it within a couple of hours, but I made myself stop reading after a couple of chapters. So I've made it last about a week.
I know there is a spin-off series, and I'm very excited for it. Don't get me wrong. But at the same time I'm still very sad because it's the end of Rose's story. I've loved her from the start, along with all the other characters, even the evil ones. Rose is one of my favorite heroines of all my favorite books and series.
She puts her best friend, Lissa, and others first. She may seem a bit selfish when it comes to some things in her life, but at the same time she is completely unselfish.
In the Last Sacrifice you see a part of Rose you don't see very often; vulnerability. Which made me love her even more.
Every time I thought I may know who Queen Tatiana's killer was, they found another clue to the puzzle and knocked my theory right down the drain. When they finally figured out who actually did kill her, it shocked me so much! I couldn't believe it! The killer has been one of my favorite characters since mentioned in the series. Though her reasons for murder did fit and wasn't as surprising.
Overall, Last Sacrifice didn't disappoint, not that I thought it ever would. Even though I wish there were more to Rose's story and that this wasn't the last book in Rose's story, it was the perfect ending. If you haven't read this series yet, you need to get a move on and go get them. Buy them, borrow them, anything! (Well, don't steal them. . .Anything BUT that, ha ha.) Just go and grab the first book, and maybe the next couple of ones because once you read the first one you'll want the second one! by Amanda
Review from Blkosiner's Book Blog
Books like Vampire Academy and Last Sacrifice are prime examples of why I love to read and write. There is so much creativity and depth that it stuns me. (For this first review, I am going to stay spoiler free, so some things be be a little vague)
There are characters that I am emotionally invested in, who when they make decisions, I either squee with joy or hit my book in frustration. Rose makes me laugh out loud, and the combination of the last two made my two year old ask me "what?" all day long and look at me like I am crazy.
Last Sacrifice made me laugh, a lot, feel joy, share in their fears and pain, and nearly made me cry (that doesn't happen easily.) Richelle ties everything up and answered all of my questions. I really loved it and I am okay with how things turned out for the main characters, if unexpected. Some of my predictions were right and others were very far off.
But everything was amazing, and I can't wait to see more from the other characters!! by Brandi Kosiner (Brandi Breathes Books)
