Last year in July I was eagerly awaiting the release of Chris Colfer's The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell for two reasons. One; I am a HUGE Chris Colfer fan and two; I ADORE fairy tales.
So I bought the book, read it and fell in love with it immediately. Fast forward a year and the sequel The Enchantress Returns is released. It is simply put - wonderful. The Wishing Spell was really great but The Enchantress Returns blew my mind.
It is really well written. There are a lot of little stories and sub plots going on that by the end of the book, tie in really well, everything just gels together and you find yourself sitting there just sort of going "Oh wow!"
Chris Colfer takes the fairy tales we all know and love and reinvents them in wonderful ways, it's actually really great because even though I adore the older fairy tales, what he does is gives them a fresh, interesting spin.
I definitely recommend this book to all ages, not just the Children demographic. I think if you like a good fairy tale with romance, action and drama then you'll love this as well as the previous book; The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell.
The last page left me wanting more and I really hope he writes another one. I'm definitely not done reading about this wonderful world .
