Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. But Katniss has been close to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. The Hunger Games is a searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present. Welcome to the deadliest reality TV show ever...

Appalling concept. Yet a worldwide hit. Shameful.

The story is addictive and it was a fund read. I bought this first book from a local bookshop and now have ordered the other two books from the book depository. Can't wait to read the rest of the story. I wouldn't say the writing was particularly good, but it was targeted at teens anyway.

Collins has done an amazing job with weaving a colourful and detailed version of the world in the districts. All the characters you love basically die, but you can't blame the author at all. I couldn't put it down and have already started the second book. So exited to find out where this adventure goes.
