Product description

Brutally honest and remarkably daring, How to Lose a Girl in 10 Waysis the account of Sean Smithson and the embarrassing situations he encountered in his quest to pick-up women over the years. An unassuming tax adviser in Londons financial district by day and an outrageous flirt by night, he amassed quite a few stories in his pursuit of the fairer sex during his 20s, and candidly confesses to 10 of his most epic fails; whether it was with colleagues, perfect strangers or even escorts. This revealing account has a sincere tone that will certainly invite a varied readership, with stories that would sit comfortably in both mens and womens magazines, though perhaps for different reasons. The insight into the male psyche goes far beyond the problem pages with some very awkward situations. Men can empathise with the writer and may even have found themselves in similar situations, whereas women are always intrigued by the inner workings of the male species. But regardless of what side of the fence you sit on, the authors self-deprecating and humorous tone should ensure that you walk away laughing. It could be at him or with him but thats something the reader should decide. `Your adventures never cease to amuse and disgust me at the same time. And yet as a single lady, I continue to be intrigued as to how bad it would actually be to sleep with you.` Sean Smithsons content and writing style have drawn initial comparisons to Neil Strauss and Tucker Max, but rather than celebrate his womanizing ways, he acknowledges the flaws in his character and seeks to entertain readers by poking fun at them. Married, divorced, single or in a relationship, this book will be enjoyed by anyone intrigued by the inner workings of a player.

Author information

SEAN SMITHSON was born in South London in 1982. After graduating from University College London in 2003 with a Degree in Statistics & Economics, he found himself working as a tax adviser in the City of London. He quit his job in 2012 and went travelling; hoping to find some answers about what to do next. This allowed him to rediscover his passion for reading and develop a knack for storytelling. Buoyed by positive responses, he set up a blog on his return to the UK and gradually earned a reputation in the blogosphere for his humorous stories. In doing so, he not only created the foundations for his book but also a readership; of both fans and critics alike.

Despite the fact that this guy made me cringe, gasp, shake my head, guffaw, almost spit out my tea and tut repeatedly, I couldn't help but root for him all the way through.
His escapades are hilarious; from attempting to pay for the services of an escort from the purse of a past conquest to spending the contents of his bank account in a strip club in one night.

This is genuinely one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. His shocking and morally questionable antics will no doubt leave you wide-eyed and incredulous, but somehow he manages to remain likeable throughout. It's a pity this charm doesn't exactly translate to his attempted conquests.

A great read.

Hilarious tales of drunken debauchery that will strike a chord with people of all ages - we've all been there! From attempting to steal money off work colleagues to pay for hookers, emptying his bank account in a strip joint and travelling across the country chasing tail, Smithson will do almost anything to get his bell end wet! Best part is he always finds a way to shoot himself in the foot!! Laugh out loud stories that provide great entertainment on the morning commute!!!! If you liked Tucker Max's 'I hope they serve beer in hell' this is a must have!!!!! Best book I've read in a long, long time!!!
