Essential for HP completists
HP Lovecraft was an author of genius, but his brain for business was not quite so acute. This resulted in his performing revision work for other authors, which often paid better than his original stories. Which resulted in this book.
Whilst some of the stories are weak and some downright poor, this is worth having for those that work: The Curse of Yig, The Mound and others. Lovecraft essentially took some concepts and fleshed them out with his fascinating style.
Whilst some may be disappointing that Lovecraft is diluted slightly here, I would say that it also made him more adventurous and there is a geographical and thematic diversity not seen in his other anthologies. by Gregor Matheson
