The third volume considers the period from the beginning of the Athenian maritime ascendancy to the Thirty Years' Truce between Athens and Sparta, and the age of Pericles. It looks at the causes and events of the Peloponnesian War from its beginnings to the Sicilian Expedition. This book will be of interest to researchers and students of ancient history.
