GreenSpirit: Path to a New Consciousness
To paraphrase something Thich Nhat Hanh once said, "Everything inter-is."
Everything in nature is interconnected, including humans. We are a part of nature, not separate from it, set apart from and above it to do with it what we will. Like every other species, we are deeply embedded in nature and dependent on it for our sustenance and our future. Compared with the prevailing Christian religious, political and economic traditions, this is a radical shift. It is also a tremendously important one.
For the past three decades there has been a growing, world wide "green" movement to counter this process by reconnecting with the planet and with each other. GreenSpirit, a movement begun in the UK, is one such movement. As its editor Marian Van Eyk McCain says in the Introduction, "GreenSpirit brings together the rigor of science, the creativity of artistic expression, the passion of social action and the core wisdom that exists within the spiritual traditions of all ages."
This book is a treasure trove of resources for anyone with an interest in creating a more joyous and sustainable future and a deeper understanding of spirituality. I highly recommend it.
