Product description

Enjoy this dynamic collection of tattoo imagery. Over 500 vintage photographs display hundreds of people decorated with thousands of tattoos. This historic tattoo art dates from the 1800s through the 1980s and includes images of love, military, religious, exotic, parlor, and tribal markings. Sailor boys, circus performers, and lovely daring women are among those who celebrate tattoo art by showing off their collections.

A thick, heavy book of vintage tattoo photos, very similair to Henk Schiffmacher's "1000 Tattoos", but in black & white & printed on pretty thick paper.
There's no text other than short captions, & the quality of the photos varies, but there's lots of lovely pictures of tattooed showgirls, natives & traditional japanese tattoos. The pictures are all from old mail-order photo archives, so you'll find some of them in other tattoo books, & there is some repetition of the tattooed models (lots of pictures of "Cindy Ray" for example), but there are lots of pictures I'd not seen before.
Overall, as a photo reference book of the golden age of tattoo covering the early 1900s to the 1950s it's hard to beat, but most of the photos are not as clear as you might like.

If you like this try Herbert Hoffman's "Living Picture Books".
