  • Quite Annoyed1

    Martin Graham As this is not the novel Grapes of Wrath the Author of this book should not be listed as John Steinbeck. Complete was of money for me.
    I'd consider myself reasonably savvy when it comes to ordering things online and never caught this. I'm also a bit annoyed at the person who rated it 5 stars just to ask a question - this prevents others from noticing the unusually low rating for the book and checking the reviews closely (wish I had).

  • Deceiving and Disappointing1

    Jasmine Ritch This is definitely not the full version of Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath." It is an abbreviated version RETOLD by Margaret Tarner for those who are learning English. I was extremely disappointed upon receiving this book to find out what this book actually was.
    When I went back to review how this had happened, there were a number of contributing factors.
    I searched the book by the AUTHOR'S name and then sorted in order of price, low to high. This page shows the book without any indication that it is a 'retold' version. At that point I clicked "add to basket." At no point during the checkout or order confirmation process was there any information that the book was not what it indicated it to be. by Jasmine Ritch

    Do Not Buy This1

    John Hennessy I made the mistake of ordering this last month, thinking it was what it appears to be, namely, "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck. But it is not. It is an ESL textbook of the story, as re-told by someone else. I just don't get the point. Why bastardize a classic? At any rate, I doubt very few people would be searching for such a book. Furthermore, it is easy to be confused. You see the title and author and assume it is what it says it is. Even the cover looks a little like a Penguin Classic edition.

    I suppose it pays to be more attentive to detail. The order page does say, after all, what it is, though it is not immediately obvious. And if you're reading this review it shows you've at least looked at this item a bit more in-depth than I did prior to ordering it and already know it isn't the genuine article. But I felt I had a duty to perhaps save someone from making the same mistake I did. by John Hennessy
