Alice could be anyone - she could be someone you know, or someone you love - and Alice is in trouble ...Being fifteen is hard, but Alice seems fine. She babysits the neighbour's kids. She is doing well at school. Someday she'd even like to get married and raise a family of her own. Then she is invited to a party, a special party where the drinks are spiked with LSD and Alice is never the same again. This tragic and extraordinary true-life story shows the devastating effect that drug-abuse can have. But the big difference between Alice and a lot of other kids on drugs is that Alice kept a diary...

This book is eye-opening. I first read this in my teens (and many, many times thereafter) and was disturbed watching as a young girl makes mistake after mistake thanks to peer pressure and runs her life in to the ground.
Because of the diary form, it is extremely hard not to feel sad, happy, and hopeful for 'Alice' to pick herself up and run away from the dark world of sex and drugs. You find yourself rooting for her throughout the whole story.

I remember reading this book in year 8 English and it moved me then now in my 20's i still enjoyed this book as much as i did as a 13 year old. a definite must read!!!
"A book that all teenagers and parents of teenagers should really read" Boston Globe "An extraordinary work- a document of horrifying reality" The New York Times Book Review "It shows the awful pressures which plague even the 15-year-old who needs all her energies to cope with growing; the isolation of one who wanders off the track and, alone, finds it impossible to fight her way back" Guardian
