DescriptionKarl Friedrich Schinkel (1781 1841) was the genius creator of urban planning and early modern architecture in Berlin. He invented what is called "Prussian Classicism." His simple and classicist approach in architecture was a major influence on the Bauhaus architects and early 20th-century architecture. This book brings together 26 of his buildings in and around Berlin, which are Schinkel's most famous works. Each building is documented in color photographs by Gerrit Engel, the photographer who is well-known for his photography books on architecture in Manhattan and, most recently, Berlin.
