Biju Thomas is the chef behind the menus of many successful restaurants in Denver and Boulder, Colorado. He has worked closely with professional cyclists including Taylor Phinney, Tejay Van Garderen, Levi Leipheimer, and Christian Vande Velde to improve their eating habits for better performance. Biju is also a contributor to MapMyFitness, one of the largest social networks in the sports industry. Allen Lim, PhD, over his career as a sports physiologist, has worked closely with the most powerful American cycling teams to improve all aspects of their training, nutrition, and racing. He founded Skratch Labs, the first active nourishment company which produces all-natural drink mixes and foods for athletes.

This book is an inspiration for anyone who wants to keep their on-the-go eating as 'real' as possible.
The opening section is an informative, clearly written overview of how nutrition and hydration work, generally and in the context of athletic activity. It explains how simple, home-made food can be superior to super-scientific sports bars, gels and drinks, without being puritanical or preachy about it.
I've only just started to try the recipes, but I can see that there's enough straightforward stuff in there for the non-cook not too feel intimidated. Obviously if you enjoy cooking, as I do, all the better.
Its authors are based in the USA, and, for athletes not based in north America, quantities need to be converted and getting some ingredients may be a challenge, but substituting is easy enough and suggestions are made.
I highly recommend this book.
