SPOILERS ALERT!

3.5 Stars

Luce ends up in Swords & Cross boarding school after an arson incident involving her boyfriend at her old school; one which was caused by the shadowy figures that keep following her. On her first day, she meets Arriane, finds herself inexplicable drawn to a guy, Daniel who for some reason hates her, manages to get humiliated in front of the entire school and hopefully finds a trusted friend in Penn.
As the days pass by, a boy, Cam seems to make her feel most comfortable at this place and another, Daniel continues to shun her with occasional tenderness and she can't drop feeling a certain connection to him. Luce begins to somewhat fight back the shadows and makes it her mission to find information about Daniel with the help of Penn. She and Todd a fellow student are saved from a fire by some invisible force but Todd is killed by the shadows.
In one of those rare moments with Daniel, Luce is compelled to tell him about the shadows she sees and gets an unexpected reaction from him; he seemed in despair. Cam cozying up with Luce ticks Daniel, leading to a fight; over her. That scene makes Luce realize that that she has to get things straight out with Cam as it is Daniel she feels for. Both of them finally give in to their building emotions in an intense kiss leaving Daniel baffled later that Luce survived. Daniel is forced to tell Luce the truth that leaves her shaken to the core; everything he said seemed as much familiar as it sounded crazy. All turns chaotic just as Luce begins to grasp what Daniel truly was and the depth of their relationship. With the end of an eventful night, Luce is forced to hide away, the fact still remains that she still knows little of the world she has been trust into.

Alright, I'm having a sort of love/hate relationship with this book. The good news is that I love it more. First off, the first chapter about the past was a bad idea; it revealed much of the focal point of this book. I felt that the readers should have been kept guessing, trying to figure out the reason to Daniels behavior and their secret past. The writer lost the suspense element there. Apart from that, the first half of the book was quite dragging with little progress and it lacked world building and relationship building; I would have loved to see more tension and love building between Daniel and Luce instead of just recognition and the repetition of it. Another down point is that there was little character development on Daniel and Cam came out a more interesting and compelling character that it felt like a love triangle with Cam having the advantage. In the second half, the story started to really progress and got interesting. The bright side of it is Ms. Kate's solid writing with the right amount of showing with less explaining which am sure would have frustrated some but I love the mystery and the author must have done that to fruit later installments. Moreover, Luce's character was realistic and believable and the secondary characters were carefully penned and were fun and interesting especially Cam who was the most fascinating character so far. Lastly, I liked the cliff hanger sort of climax leaving more mystery to be uncovered.

I really enjoyed this, though ofcourse I prefer the bad boy and wish she would chose him. this book is predictable but really enjoyable, it had a good story line, interesting characters and somewhere to go in the series. I really liked it, and consistantly re-read it to further my love

Fallen had promise but it never develops characters beyond clich???????????????????????????????¢????????????¢?????????¢??????¢????????©s and the plot is full of holes. A lack of description stopped me from ever feeling involved in scenes that could have been written in a far more dramatic way. If you want a good angel book I'd recommend Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. Clare creates an alternative world far more convincing, exciting and involving than Lauren Kate ever manages in Fallen.

Empecemos por la portada: es magn??????fica. ??????¿A qui??????©n no le gusta?
Una frase en la parte de atr??????¡s del libro: "What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours?".

This story truly has a great potential. But its up to the author to live up to that potential and turn words into a world of great imagination.
I found Lauren Kate's writing style to be a bit annoying. It seemed like she can use a "creative writing" class because sometimes i just didn't understand what she was trying to convey in some paragraphs/sentences.I sometimes found myself reading some parts over and over again. Lauren has a wonderful imagination, now she just needs to put it better into words. She sometimes had too many words thrown into a sentence that weren't even necessary to begin with. More like "fillers".
The Story was very good though. It was like for more than half the story Lauren built up this Thriller/Suspense around all her characters. Every character was well developed with an edge and mystery to them. It was like this whole jumble of mystery and confusion for more than half of the book. The next thing you know, you are 20 pages away from finishing the book, yet STILL no answers. Well, thats exactly what happened. The conclusion wasn't much of a conclusion as it was a cliff-hanger.
I have very high expectations for the next book, Torment, because *fingers crossed* many of the mystery's will be solved and questions will be answered. But i m not totally counting on that either, since this is a 4 books series and lauren will need something to talk about in those books too. *sigh* This wait is gonna kill me!!
Many people, just like myself, compare this fallen angel book with "Hush,Hush". Considering the fact, they both are about fallen angels and both came out roughly at the same time.
However, let me assure you. They have totally DIFFERENT plots. Not for once was i comparing the story's. The one and only similarity they do have is the subject of fallen angels, thats it! Both stories follow different fallen angel mythology, so if u read the two books back to back, you may get a bit confused. I personally liked Hush,Hush better because i LOVED the authors writing style and her cute sense of humor(i LOLed A LOT!). But, i like the story of Fallen a wee bit more.
I think if the authors of Fallen and Hush,Hush teamed up, they could've come up with the ULTIMATE LOVE STORY about Fallen Angels, hands down. After all, two heads are better than one.
I would recommend this book, but not over Hush,Hush. Sorry guyz! Hush, Hush won me over.
