Reviews for Economy Gastronomy
great read
Times are getting tougher so its great to find a cook book that recognises that people need to cook smarter but still want to eat delicious food. I've read many budget cookery books and this is one of the few that doesn't rely on pasta, rice and mince (don't get me wrong, they're in there, but they don't make up the entire book like some). A fair bit is common sense & going back to basics but its presented in an informative way with some light humour too. I've taken heaps of great info, recipes & ideas from it (I often make my own stock now!), my only criticism is that I have is I felt some of the concepts quite labour intensive, especially to start out with until you get your freezer back-ups happening. It isn't aimed at cutting your food bill in half (for some people it might) but it does help you reduce waste and cook/shop smarter. Don't let that put you off, there's heaps of great stuff in there but I'd be inclined to approach it with a take it or leave it attitude. by Amy Deering
